Greetings friends! Today I would like to share the visit I made to the Chapel of the Virgin of the Valley while I was in Cayo Sal, Falcon state in Venezuela.

It is a small building near the port of the key, from where the maritime processions go out where the sculpture of the Virgin walks through the ports of the nearby keys of the Morrocoy National Park to give the blessing to the sea and the workers of the state boats.

The day before my visit to Cayo Sal, I watched from afar the funeral of a boat driver's grandfather. All transportation services that day were paralyzed while all the boatmen went in a procession with the coffin through all the waters where the gentleman had sailed.

Saludos amigos! Hoy me gustaría compartir la visita que hice a la Capilla de la Vírgen del Valle mientras estaba en Cayo Sal, estado Falcón en Venezuela.

Se trata de una pequeña edificación cerca del puerto del Cayo, desde allí salen las procesiones maritimas donde.pasean la escultura de la virgen por los puertos de los Cayos cercanos del parque Nacional Morrocoy para dar la bendición al mar y a los trabajadores de las lanchas del estado.

El día anterior de mi visita al Cayo Sal, puse apreciar desde muy lejos el funeral del abuelo de un lanchero. Todos los servicios de transporte ese día se paralizaron mientras todos los lancheros acudieron a una procesión con el féretro por todas las aguas donde el señor había navegado.

Vistazo a la Capilla de la Virgen del Valle en Cayo Sal

I was looking through one of the small holes in the cross on the façade, inside there were some benches and the sculpture of the Virgin that is carried around the Keys. I also saw the Venezuelan flag that also accompanies the fishermen.

This chapel was made by the inhabitants of the town of Chichiriviche and they took the Virgen del Valle as their patron saint since she is the queen of the sea and they ask through offerings and promises for the protection of the fishermen and boatmen, their families and the blessing for their daily work.

Estuve viendo por uno de los pequeños agujeros de la cruz de la fachada, adentro habían algunas bancas y la escultura de la Virgen que es paseada por los alrededores de los Cayos. También vi la bandera de Venezuela que también acompaña a los pescadores.

Esta Capilla fue hecha por los habitantes del pueblo de Chichiriviche y tomaron a la Virgen del Valle como patrona ya que es la reina del mar y piden mediante ofrendas y promesas la protección de los pescadores y lancheros, de sus familias y la bendición para sus trabajos diarios.

Esta pequeña capilla ha recibido la visita pastoral en varias oportunidades.

This small chapel has received pastoral visits on several occasions.

I imagine the effort for the construction of this beautiful chapel, it is one of the very few constructions of block and cement that have the Morrocoy National Park. And to get to Cayo Sal you have to take a 10 minute boat ride from the mainland port in Chichiriviche.

So carrying the construction materials and sidewalks, among others, was a bit tiring.

I really enjoyed visiting this place, seeing how the local families take care to keep the chapel in perfect condition, everything looks very clean and tidy. They attend the scheduled prayers and masses and can be seen arriving in their small boats to go and nurture their spirituality. It is something I liked very much.

Imagino el esfuerzo para la construcción de esta bonita capilla, es una de las muy pocas construcciones de bloque y cemento que tienen el parque Nacional Morrocoy. Y para llegar a Cayo Sal se debe transportar en lancha durante 10 minutos desde el puerto en tierra firme en Chichiriviche.

Asi que llevar los materiales de construcción y las banquetas entre otros, resultó un poco agotador.

Me gustó mucho visitar este lugar, ver como las familias locales se preocupan por mantener la capilla en perfectas condiciones, todo se ve muy limpio y ordenado. Asisten a las oraciones y misas programadas y se pueden ver llegar en sus pequeñas lanchas para ir a nutrir su espiritualidad. Es algo que me gustó mucho.

The villagers say that the faith and miracles of the Virgin have been able to bless many local families. This type of belief is part of this town that I could notice that they are very hardworking and religious.

Cuentan los aldeanos que la fé y los milagros de la Virgen han logrado bendecir a muchas familias locales. Este tipo de creencias forma parte de este pueblo que pude notar que son muy trabajadores y religiosos.
