Greetings friends of Hive and all the members of this Architecture+Design community. For some time now I have been generating more interest in churches, but not in a religious way but in their structures, in the aesthetic field, that is why I have dedicated several posts to churches, cathedrals, parishes and others. In the autonomous city of Buenos Aires there are countless religious structures built more than a century ago that allow us to appreciate its architecture, details and imposing.

Yesterday I was doing a couple of errands in the Recoleta neighborhood, I was in a hurry in one thing and another I almost did not look to the sides but while walking down the main avenue Las Heras it was impossible not to look at this parish that I present in this post. Besides being very striking it has a style that is my favorite simply because of its appearance, it is the neo-gothic style.

It is the San Agustin parish, a work that was started in 1907 approximately to be inaugurated three years later in 1910, so it is about 112 years old we could say. I was in a hurry because it was getting late to get to my agreed place but I had to stop for 5 minutes or maybe less and take these pictures, the parish was closed so I only took pictures of the outside from different angles and perspectives, however if it was open I would have decided to enter and arrive late to the place where I had to go, undoubtedly

This parish is simply amazing inside, the details, the stained glass windows, the lighting is quite interesting and amazing, of course I quickly searched the internet to see which church I came across and when I saw the inside it was a pity to see it closed at that precise moment when I stopped. So I promise to do a new post to show you the interior of this beautiful structure and the details it houses.

The parish was in charge of an Italian architect named Luis Broggi and was intended to be a church and at the same time a school which prioritized the activities and trades for children who suffered from shortages, parallel to this a place was destined to function as an elementary school completely free of charge. The details of the interior I will let them pass in this opportunity to be more specific in the post dedicated to its interior with my own photographs, that way I find it more interesting.

The construction of this work was promoted by Mercedes Baudrix as a tribute or memory of her husband Mariano Unzué, already deceased by that time. Inside the church there are relics of different Augustinian saints including those of Saint Augustine. Consisting of 3 naves and a tower of a height of more than 40 meters, it had its respective restoration for the year 1985, in order to preserve the structure, which in fact looked very well preserved on the outside.

Most of the churches or parishes that are declared historical monuments of the nation are under the economic responsibility of the state in terms of maintenance and conservation of its structure but in this case there is no information indicating that it is, but nevertheless the work looks very well preserved. This is one of the many neogothic churches in the country but a new one for me since I did not know it.

I thought it would be interesting to share it with the community and with everyone on the platform. Besides, I must say that I have pending a trip to travel several kilometers 🤣 and to show you the huge cathedral of Lujan, is still pending, I do not forget hehe. Greetings to all friends, I send you a big hug and thank you very much for those who visited this post 🤗

@dimascastillo90 What a wonderful structure, what an architectural richness, a delight indeed to look at this. Excellent technical quality in each photo, as well the selection of angles.... Great!... One question Dimas... Do you do them with a dedicated wide angle lens?.... Cheers....

Bravo!... Una pregunta Dimas... ¿Las haces con un lente gran angular?... Saludos.

Hello... my apologies for the omission... I have already taken it into account, I have also edited the comment and added this one in English. Thank you very much for notifying. Greetings to all team!

Where is the English translation?

Ready, I have already posted the initial comment in English. Cheers. ;-) My apologies again to everyone in team!

Thank you for updating your comment. 😀

My friend @jlinaresp, I really appreciate each of your words, I really appreciate them. I took the pictures with my cell phone with the wide angle mode because I was very close to the church, if I used the camera I couldn't frame the whole structure, unless you have a professional wide angle lens for the camera and they are exaggeratedly expensive.

Thanks for the clarification dear friend!... Wow! I'm really impressed by the quality in each photo. For a moment, I thought you might have taken them with a 10mm or 12mm prime lens. What a result then!... I reiterate my applause for this work. Thanks you for taking the time to answer my questions. Regards.

Gracias por la aclaratoria estimado amigo. ¡Wow! Saludos.

The Neo-Gothic style is certainly a favorite architectural character for most European churches. Over the years it has sealed its distinctive reputation among the many design signatures in the region. Perhaps because of the prominent classical elements that adorn its surfaces including unique ornamentations. No wonder the San Agustin Parish caught your attention despite your hectic itinerary. I'm definitely curious about the massive cathedral of Lujan, and I look forward to seeing it. Warm regards @dimascastillo90! 😊

I am not forgetting the cathedral of Lujan that I have already mentioned to you, that trip I must make, on the other hand I must also make my visit to the interior of the cathedral of La Plata and the viewpoint of one of the towers. So, soon I will be here with these architectural beauties. Greetings my dear friend, thank you very much for your words 🙂
