The French Embassy's Beaux Art Building [ENG/ESP]

in #hive-1787082 years ago

Buenos Aires is the city catalogued as the Paris of America for its remarkable French architecture and this building demonstrates it with its classical academic style or better known as French academicism.

Greetings dear friends! Today I show you a bit of Beaux Art style architecture referring to the French embassy in Buenos Aires, which is located in the Retiro neighborhood, but in this case it is not our interest to emphasize the embassy as such, but in the building where it has its headquarters, in the Ortiz Basualdo palace.

Saludos queridos amigos!

This building has served as the French embassy since 1939 and has a French academic style and was designed by architect Paul Pater. It stands out at first sight its impressive dome covered with a mansard roof of iron and zinc, very characteristic of other palaces of the city with this same architectural style.

It is distributed in 3 levels where the first one stands out for having living and reception rooms, in the second level there are rooms and in the third level there are other rooms but in this case for the service. A building that managed to highlight all the characteristics of French architecture both in exteriors and interiors, a pity that my access to it was not possible.

The palace has undergone several renovations over the years, both on the outside and inside, adapting it in this way for what was the expansion of 9 de Julio Avenue, where it was at risk of being demolished by this work, finally could remain and preserve this work that takes more than 100 years and is a luxury of architecture.

Personally I consider and give my opinion about this building and this type of buildings that adorn the city, and without this kind of structures Buenos Aires would not be Buenos Aires, architecture is a fundamental part of the country and is part of the history that every country must carry with it.

In addition to the fact that in most of these works important political and social events took place, it is something that in my opinion should last over time and also with the effort to keep the style as original as possible, otherwise it ceases to be what it was, even if it remains standing.

In all the photographs I present about this palace I try to capture and show you both in general and in detail each of the fundamental aspects of the architecture of the building. Its great dome, the tower and its windows, the arches that form it, side views of the building, and much more.

For people who love or are very interested in architecture I consider this a jewel. It is also in a very good state of preservation with respect to the exterior, which is what I was able to capture through my camera. I have done some research and with a previous request for a guided tour it is possible to access the interior which would be very interesting to see and admire.

This was the French embassy in Argentina located in the Ortiz Basualdo Palace in the Retiro neighborhood, one of the reasons why they call Buenos Aires the Paris of America. What do you think about it 🙂

French architecture definitely possesses extremely strong defining characteristics in its distinctive architectural style and directly influences a world-class city like Buenos Aires in its urban identity and local heritage. Without these identifiable buildings, structures, and landmarks, citizens would have nothing to associate their homeland with, since the built environment is one of the most obvious, physical, and tangible evidence available. 😊

There are many subcategories of the French architectural character. So what would you consider the most common one existing in Buenos Aires dear friend @dimascastillo90?

There are too many buildings with different styles in Buenos Aires but I consider that one of the most common may be French academic style and eclectic. I am not very knowledgeable but I try to acquire some knowledge as I visit these places. Among these buildings there are many palaces, cathedrals and government institutions 🙂

Okay, I see, and that's interesting. The French academic and eclectic architectural styles are also quite exquisite in their appearances, giving the said buildings a touch of class. 😊

Friend @dimascastillo90, it is undoubtedly a jewel of architecture what you present. It is impossible to miss the opportunity to see spectacular photos like yours of the details in the facades of this palace. Greetings friend and happy week brother!

Always admire French architecture. I saw many buildings in Vietnam with this style.

Hopefully I will pass by this building on my travel journey to Buenos Aires in 2 weeks. Omg so excited.
