Un saludo muy especial para todos los amantes de la arquitectura y el diseño. Feliz de compartir con ustedes un poco más de mi bella tierra. Esta vez, quiero mostrarles algunas fotografías de la Iglesia "Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro", conocida también como la tercera.

En mi publicación anterior compartí acerca de la arquitectura presente en algunas calles del centro de la ciudad de Mérida, este mismo día de caminata familiar, tuve la oportunidad de estar cerca, después de mucho tiempo, de esta bonita iglesia, una iglesia que gracias a su ubicación y su altura es visible desde lejos.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church is located on 3rd Avenue, at the corner of 18th Street. On this day its yellow color perfectly matched the blue of the clear sky. It was a beautiful day, the perfect day for this work of architecture to pose for some pictures.

The history of this beautiful church, takes us to the year 1591, according to the catalog of Venezuelan cultural heritage, this year was the beginning of this construction, since then, it has undergone a series of renovations and rehabilitations that gave it this beautiful architecture.

Something that strikes me is that it was not damaged during the earthquake of 1812, being its last remodeling in 1958. So many years of history, isn't it?

This old building attracts my attention, especially for the geometry of its facade, although its finishes are simple and does not have great ornamental details, its facade can not go unnoticed.

Its main facade is a nice visual contrast, we have a rectangular body, where there are three arches, similar to inverted parabolas, of those that I studied a lot in mathematics, where the central arch protrudes a little. Above these we find a series of windows that have the same shape, with glasses where the beauty of the sky is reflected.

Above this body we have the bell tower, formed in two sections with open windows that follow the same shape. And it culminates with a dome that differentiates it from other churches in the area.

La Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, está ubicada en la Av. 3, en la esquina de la calle 18. Este día su color amarillo hacía un juego perfecto con el azul del cielo despejado. Era un día hermoso, el día perfecto para que esta obra de arquitectura posará para algunas fotos.

La historia de esta hermosa iglesia, nos lleva al año 1591, según el catálogo del patrimonio cultural venezolano, este año se dio inicio a esta construcción, desde entonces, ha sufrido por una serie de remodelaciones y rehabilitaciones que le dieron esta hermosa arquitectura.

Algo que me llama la atención es que no sufrió daños durante el terremoto de 1812, siendo su última remodelación en 1958. Cuantos años de historia, verdad?.

Esta antigua edificación me llama gratamente la atención, especialmente por la geometría de su fachada, aunque sus acabados son sencillos y no posee grandes detalles ornamentales, su fachada no puede pasar desapercibida.

Su fachada principal es un lindo contraste visual, tenemos un cuerpo rectangular, donde se encuentran tres arcos, semejantes a parábolas invertidas, de esas que estudie mucho en matemáticas, donde el arco central sobresale un poco. Arriba de estos encontramos una serie de ventanas que tienen la misma forma, con vidrios donde se refleja la belleza del cielo.

Sobre este cuerpo tenemos el campanario, formado en dos tramos con ventanales abiertos que siguen la misma forma. Y culmina con una cúpula que la diferencia de las otras iglesias de la zona..

The roof of the bell tower is quite interesting, it gives the impression of an inverted gable roof and ends with a concrete arch that surrounds a cross and above it a religious sculpture.

The church is well preserved, although it presents some details in its coating, but some maintenance and care will be enough to make it shine again.

Next to the main nave we see a continuation of it, with rectangular windows. While on the side facade we see that it maintains the same concept of the front area, numerous arched windows, which surely form a beautiful show of stained glass windows inside.

El techo del campanario es bastante interesante, da la impresión de un techo a dos aguas invertido y finaliza con un arco en concreto que envuelve una cruz y arriba de ella una escultura religiosa.

La iglesia está bien conservada, aunque presenta algunos detalles en su revestimiento, pero algo de mantenimiento y cariño serán suficientes para hacerla brillar de nuevo.

Al lado de la nave principal vemos una continuación de ella, con ventanas rectangulares. Mientras que en la fachada lateral vemos que mantiene el mismo concepto del área frontal, numerosas ventanas en arco, que seguramente forman un bello espectáculo de vitrales en su interior.

I would have loved to share better photos of its interior, but the church was partially closed, perhaps because it was noon. From its main gate I was able to take a glimpse, which left me with a great desire to return.

The plant is formed by a single nave, we can see that its columns are rectangular and that it has a wooden cladding, up to a third of its height.

The granite floor has beautiful decorations and the color palette inside conveys a lot of serenity and peace, I was not mistaken from inside, we noticed colorful stained glass windows, which I hope to show you another time, when I can enter this beautiful structure.

Unlike other churches, there are no big decorations, it is quite simple, but it is still beautiful.

I have to come back, because I need to see what the roof looks like from the inside and thus better understand the geometry of its facades.

After admiring this majestic temple for a while, from its outskirts, we continue our family tour. I would love to know what you think about the architectural design of this beautiful building. Would you change anything about it?

Me hubiese encantado compartir mejores fotos de su interior, pero la iglesia se encontraba parcialmente cerrada, tal vez, porque era mediodía. Desde su reja principal pude dar un vistazo, que me dejaron con muchas ganas de volver.

La planta está formada por una sola nave, podemos ver que sus columnas son rectangulares y que tiene un revestimiento en madera, hasta un tercio de su altura.

El piso en granito tiene hermosas decoraciones y la paleta de colores en su interior transmite mucha serenidad y paz, no me equivoqué desde su interior, notamos coloridos vitrales, que espero mostrarles en otra oportunidad, en la que pueda entrar a esta bella estructura.

A diferencias de otras iglesias, no se observan grandes decoraciones, es bastante sencilla, pero no deja de ser hermosa.

Tengo que volver, porque necesito ver cómo es el techo desde su interior y así comprender mejor la geometría de sus fachadas.

Después de admirar un rato este majestuoso templo, desde sus afueras, seguimos nuestro recorrido familiar. Me encantaría saber que les parece el diseño arquitectónico de esta bonita edificación?. Cambiarían algo de ella?.
