Hola amigos de HIVE!

I have always thought that through architecture we can know the history of a region, so today I want to take you to Ejido, a town that, with the passage of time, has become a city, thanks to the progressive growth of its population.

Ejido is the town where I live, it belongs to the Campo Elías Municipality and its proximity to the capital of the State of Merida, makes it a very active population. Walking through its streets is something I enjoy, except in the afternoons of intense sunshine. This town has streets with considerable slopes, full of architectural contrast, which shows the traces of the architecture of the past and how it has evolved over the years.

Today, I am very happy to share some photographs of one of the most important sectors of the city of Ejido. "Montalbán" is one of the most relevant from the commercial and educational point of view, there are different institutions, a Polytechnic University, several health centers and many commercial premises. Today, I noticed that they have opened several cafes and food stores, which look very nice and with interesting designs that I hope to visit little by little.

We will start the tour from this Boulevard, they call it the Boulevard of the students, because it is right on this street where different buildings are concentrated, the university, a school and two high schools, so it is always surrounded by students. Recently it was inaugurated, now the roadway is made of stone and they placed different street lamps, which are very nice, I usually bring my son here, so he can enjoy the outdoors.

A couple of blocks later we find this colonial style house, which has always seemed very nice to me, a very well known bakery used to operate here, but it closed its doors years ago. This house is colonial style with beautiful windows on its facades and granite cladding protects its walls, tile roofs.

As you can see here we can find beautiful houses that maintain the Spanish colonial style, this street is beautiful and I love that in front we have an incredible view of the imposing mountains of the Andean Cordillera. Most of the houses in this house are residential, but it is not uncommon to see, advertisements on their facades, of some enterprise such as sales of ice cream, coffee, handicrafts and more.

One of the characteristics that I like most of the colonial architecture are its windows, rectangular and huge, always protruding from the wall, some are made of wood, others of wrought iron, with beautiful decorations. The windows are for me the eyes of these houses, through them we can see the interior of these beautiful houses, just as they say that through the eyes we can see the soul.

I can be sure, that most of these houses have a central courtyard and around it several corridors, It is something common in these hacienda houses and it turns out that Ejido was just that, a huge sugar cane hacienda that became a city.

At the end of this street, we find the Montalbán Church and in front of it a small square, where we can rest and eat an ice cream. In this street, most of the houses maintain the same architectural and constructive style, they are very old houses built in earth, with cane or wood roofs, covered in tile. Most of them have surely been restored, like this Pharmacy, which was remodeled recently, still retains its original facade, but now looks more radiant and filled with life this street.

In Montalbán, we find different colonial houses that were converted into small shopping centers, like this one, one of my favorites, its facade is beautiful and its white color, gives it a lot of elegance, also the design of its windows gives it a great architectural value.

We also find houses, with striking cornices and parapets. I am momentarily transported to colonial times and imagine how beautiful these streets must have looked thanks to its architecture.

From this street, the most modern buildings begin to appear, making a contrast between the old and the modern, creating a perfect harmony in the city, a colonial city that remains in constant change.

Greetings @driangel, the city of Ejido, is very beautiful, I love the abundance of vegetation and the contrast of the buildings with the landscape, the view of the mountain is spectacular, I imagine a cool climate and beautiful places to enjoy with the family; the last photo is great.

Happy and blessed day!

Thank you very much, my friend. Yes, it is very nice, the weather is sometimes warm, well, at least a bit warmer than Merida City. We have some incredible mountains all around us. I love that. Thanks for visiting my post.

How beautiful it all looks where you live.

It looks like a town here in my state called Santa Maria or rather Caripe because of all the shopping areas and educational centers you say there are.

I love the green of the mountains and the architecture of the houses.

Here we also have a historic center, similar is a small area of Cumaná, usually they always have it very well kept and the houses are big and beautiful inside, especially I like the internal gardens.

I don't know Cumana, but I have seen beautiful photos of that state, my friend. I love the colonial style too.

Thank you, friend, yes it is very nice, I love them, in my second part, I will show what is the central part of Ejido.

Greetings @doriangel thanks for showing us Ejido I never met him but I like towns with atmosphere and natural landscapes

Ejido is 15 minutes from Merida. It is beautiful and it is growing a lot. Thank you very much.

Notice that I did not know of a city with that name, except for the one in the state of Carabobo, where my maternal ancestors are from: Montalbán. Distant cousins still live there, most of whom I do not know.
I love that they have preserved the colonial structures despite becoming a more populated space, I hope they keep it that way and that if they build new structures they follow the same style.
Beautiful photos

Yes amiga, maybe because it is a sector of Ejido, its name is not very well known, everyone says Ejido and that's it, hahaha. The new constructions are not colonial, but they are nice too. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi @doriangel. Your hometown of Ejido especially the neighborhood of Montalban is great proof of a landmark's progress and development. With its colonial architecture, it would seem like traveling back in time during this historic era of Venezuela. 😊👍

With the proliferation of more contemporary designs, it looks like your hometown also adapted to these latest trends. What would you consider the most modern building in that area?

Hello friend @storiesoferne , thank you very much, so is walking through Ejido, is to walk through history. I still have some places to show you in Ejido, where we can continue to see this contrast.

One of the most modern is a shopping mall, which they built recently, it is not active yet, I have only seen it, from the outside, maybe, I will share it soon. The other mall is the Ejido Mall. And some residential buildings. Also the Trolleybus buildings.

Ejido is growing quite a lot, many sectors I don't know yet, new neighborhoods and even the surrounding villages have become quite populated.

Ejido Mall

Administrative Building Trolebús

Awesome! Those buildings you mentioned are certainly more recent in their architectural approach. Surely Ejido is on the verge of modernization, of course without compromising their heritage environments. Thank you for showing us this interesting contrast of design characters. We look forward to experiencing more gorgeous landmarks from your hometown. Best of health and success always @doriangel! 😊👍

Yes, of course, it is always a pleasure to talk about the places I visit with all of you. Thank you very much. Happy beginning of the week, blessings!
