HHello friends! Today I am going to show and tell you about the famous Floridita Bar Restaurant, where I had the opportunity to attend a business meeting and enjoy a delicious lunch in the main hall of the facilities.
Being there, I was interested in learning more about its history and relevance. I found information in some of the promotional brochures offered to visitors and they served as a reference. The Floridita's design is exquisite and refined, and currently remains faithful to its Regency style décor, adopted in the 1950s.

Estando allí, me interesó conocer más sobre su historia y relevancia. Encontré información en algunos de los folletos promocionales que se ofrecen a los visitantes y me sirvieron de referencia. El diseño del Floridita es exquisito y refinado, y actualmente se mantiene fiel a su decoración de estilo Regency, adoptada en la década de 1950.
The famous Floridita has its main entrance on the corner of Obispo and Monserrate, in Old Havana; it is the part of the building painted pink. On the other corner of Obispo and Bernaza, there is another entrance that gives access to a small restaurant called Piña de Plata. Between these two points is located the Casa del Habano, which that day was closed, these two areas are in the part of the building that is painted yellow and white as seen in the photos, but all this set currently makes up this tourist facility.
It has a history of more than 200 years, since its doors were opened to the public in 1817, going through several names, until in 1914 its owners decided to call it Floridita, a name it retains to this day. It is located near downtown Havana, just 100 meters from the Central Park, surrounded by many important buildings that can be enjoyed from its rooftop.

Está situado cerca del centro de La Habana, a sólo 100 metros del Parque Central, rodeado de muchos edificios importantes que se pueden disfrutar desde su azotea.

To this day, his memory continues to attract tourists from all over the world who flock to the place, to consume this cocktail and to see his life-size copper statue, placed in a corner of the bar, leaning on the bar, just as he used to do. It is an attraction that, together with the good service provided by the facility, everyone wants to enjoy.
La fama mundial del Floridita se debe en gran parte a las constantes visitas en los años 30 del Premio Nobel de literatura Ernest Hemingway. Durante esa época, Hemingway se convirtió en un visitante asiduo e incluso hizo del Floridita su segundo hogar. Adornaba y creaba personajes en sus obras según los distintos visitantes que acudían al Floridita. En su novela "Islas en el Golfo" describe con precisión el Daiquiri que consumió allí, que según su definición era una "bebida de aguas someras". In 1953, "Esquire" magazine recognized it as one of the 7 most famous bars in the world, and in 1992 it received the "Best of the Best Five Star Diamond Award" from the American Academy of Gastronomic Sciences as the King of the Daiquiri and the most representative seafood restaurant, which is displayed in the hall to the right of the entrance.
In 2017, on the occasion of celebrating its 200th anniversary since its founding, in the Floridita held a memorable event: the creation of the giant daiquiri, which became the largest in the world, the glass used to serve the daiquiri is preserved as a treasure in the establishment. This event was a testimony to the special place that this Bar Restaurant occupies in Cuban history and culture.

Upon entering the Floridita, we felt transported to a bay of bags, like the bay of Havana, but in the 50's. It is a beautiful feeling, as if you were living in a movie. At the back of the bar, known as Bar Back, drinks are displayed, there is a large picture on the wall, of the entrance to the Bay with mirrors on the sides, highlighting two, black columns with gold base and capital, which harmonize with the overall design. In the center is an antique cash register and above it a sculpture of the god of wine. The tables are red and the chairs are upholstered in white, as are the bar stools.
The huge colonial style windows, made of wood and glass, have fake flower beds with artificial flowers at the base. The bar is simply beautiful. While I was there, it was necessary to open the doors before the appointed time, as tourists were knocking on the door anxious to enter. As soon as the doors opened, the bar came to life and it was amazing the number of visitors. There is always a gentle murmur mixed with the live music that accompanies the stay.
Al entrar al Floridita, nos sentimos transportado a una bahía de bolsa, como la Bahía de La Habana, pero en los años 50. Es una sensación hermosa, como si estuvieras viviendo en una película. Justo al lado de la entrada se encuentra el bar, con una elegante barra de caoba. En la parte posterior del bar, conocida como Bar Back, se exhiben las bebidas, existe una gran pintura en la pared, de la entrada de la Bahía con espejos a los lados , destacándose dos, columnas negras con base y capitel dorados, que armonizan con el diseño general. En el centro se conserva una antigua caja registradora y sobre ella una escultura del dios del vino. Las mesas son de color rojo y las sillas tapizadas en blanco al igual que las banquetes de la barra.
Las enormes ventanas de estilo colonial, de madera y cristal, tienen falsos canteros con flores artificiales en la base. El bar es simplemente hermoso. Mientras estaba allí, fue necesario abrir las puertas antes de la hora indicada, ya que los turistas tocaban la puerta ansiosos por ingresar. En cuanto se abrieron las puertas, el bar cobró vida y fue increíble la cantidad de visitantes. Siempre se escucha un murmullo suave mezclado con la música en vivo que acompaña la estancia.
At the end of the bar, the lounge widens out like a bag bay, where the restaurant is located. On the walls, you can see three murals that were completely restored about 6 years ago. These murals give the sensation of being in the center of the Bahia de la Habana, as they reflect images of the surroundings of the bay. The tables are covered with impeccable white tablecloths, the napkins are engraved with golden threads with an R and an F, the chairs are comfortable and cushioned. There are some original decorations from the 50's, vases on the walls, the sea star located in the center where there is a half point with two thick columns on both sides.

The entrance at the corner of Obispo and Bernaza leads to a restaurant called "Piña de Plata" as I have already explained, a little lighter and with another style but without losing the class of the place. It has a simple bar next to the lounge, it is also animated with live music. Although it does not have the magic of the other restaurant, it breathes an atmosphere of neatness and beauty.

It is an emblematic place in Havana, Cuba. Its mix of history, architecture, delicious food and famous daiquiris, make it a must visit, which will surely leave unforgettable memories.
