About thirteen days ago, I reviewed the first two books in the Twisted Series, a dark new adult romance written by Ana Huang. In that post, I promised to review the two last books in the series which I will be doing in this post. To know more about the background of the series, you can refer back to part 1 here.

Book 3: Twisted Hate.

“Take however much time you need. I’ll wait.” -Josh
"Why?" -Jules
“Because you’re it for me. Whether it’s today, tomorrow, a year, or decades from now, that’ll never change.”-Josh

Twisted Hate is the third book in the series that revolves around Josh Chen, Ava's brother and Julie Ambrose, Ava's best friend. These two characters hate each other and one can basically say they are enemies. They can't stand each other's presence and the energies are repulsive.

This book is an enemies to lovers steamy adult romance with a gorgeous and cocky male character who is a hotshot doctor. All women who encounter him are always swept away by his charms and seduction. But on the other hand, Josh Chen hasn't been able to make his charms work on Jules Ambrose. A fiesty, bold, outgoing, ambitious female character who is about to become a brilliant lawyer.

These two main characters hate each other so much that they sometimes fantasize about killing each other but one thing they didn't know is that fate had a different plan for them. On a fateful night, everything changes when their hate for each turns into an explosive passion and rage-filled sex but then someone bad from Jules's was looming around waiting for the perfect time to strike.

My review / opinion about this book will not be much because this book took me about two weeks to finish. I had neglected this book for another because this book frustrated me and I didn't find it engaging. Don't get me wrong, I love enemies to lovers stories but their story was toxic for me. I could connect with the two main characters because I didn't feel their chemistry. I have always seen both characters as the comic relief in this series but when Ana paired them together, I couldn't relate with them being in love together. It was weird.

The storyline was predictable, I see where both the characters will end. There was no suspense or tension, the steamy scenes weren't pleasant for me (some might find it dirty and sexy, but it was degrading for me). Sensitive and strong themes that were explored were not more than three which I felt made the story arc of this book weak for me.

Rating this book, I will give it 3 out of 5 stars. Since each book in this series can be read as standalone, I would say skip the third book but if you feel that all the flaws I point to are something you can read, you read the third book.

Book 4: Twisted lies.

“There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Stella.” -Harper
"I love you" -Stella
“I don’t deserve your love.”-Harper

Twisted lies as the name states, one should expect lies and deceit to be at the center core of the storyline of this book. It is a fake-dating billionaire romance kind of story that has a Charming, deadly, and smart male character, Christian Harper. Harper is a ruthless businessman whose speciality is in the cyber security chain. When he wants something he takes it without any form of remorse or apology.

Now, Stella Alonso, a sweet, shy, and introverted female character who is a big social influencer and a romantic who keeps her heart cage till she finds her dream man got the attention of Harper when she rented an apartment in his penthouse. Since then he has been obsessed with her and he intends to take her with any means possible. Stella was his and no one else's.

Biding his time, Harper waits for Stella to need his help so that he can swoop in and take her for himself. The situation presents itself which entails they sign a deal to pretend they were dating. Harper takes this deal and intends to make use of it to woo Stella. Will Harper's plan play out smoothly?

This book was quite interesting for me and very engaging. I love how Ana wrote this story. She was meticulous with how she mixed up mystery, crime, art crime, and romance together. She did it in a seamless way. The two main characters have a strong chemistry and they compliment each other. They are also coined out from the themes that were explored in this story. Themes like lies, deceit, secrets, and betrayal were well explored in a suspenseful way. I love all the twists and turns Ana used to spice up the story of this book. I love everything about this book, especially the ending and I enjoyed reading it.

Rating this book, I will give it 4.8 out of 5 stars. It was an interesting story, intriguing, thrilling and had a little heart gripping violent scenes. In my opinion, my favorite books from the 'Twisted series' are 'Twisted Games and Twisted Lies'. If you ask me, they are the best of the series.

Will you give 'Twisted Series' a chance to experience an interesting world built by Ana Huang?

Oh my! That's intense! I can understand why it's titled 'Twisted Hate'. Hehe. I see this Twisted series is gaining traction, especially among young adults. Ana Huang must be an imaginative writer.

Interesting review! I'll add this series to my TBR, hopefully I'll find the time to read them. My reading rate is becoming slow these days. 😄 Nicely done. !PIMP 💕
