Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've posted here. I bring you a review and recommendation of a classic book that you can't miss. It is a literary masterpiece and is a must read for everyone. The book is of the science fiction genre and one of the first books I read and then reread several times, and I liked it very much.

Es una obra maestra de la literatura y es una lectura obligada para todos. El libro es del género ciencia ficción y uno de los primeros que leí y que luego releí varias veces, y que me gustó mucho.

Ray Bradbury (1920-112) is an American novelist and short story writer, known mainly for his science fiction books. He achieved fame with the compilation of his best stories in Martian Chronicles (1950) and in 1953 he published his first novel: Fahrenheit 451, which was also a major success and was made into a film by François Truffaut. In it he exposed the power of the media and the excessive conformism that dominates society.

In this novel Ray Bradbury focuses on books and their destruction, and how “dangerous they can be”. It is a dystopian novel that tells the history of Guy Montag, a fireman, but not like the ones we know now. The firemen in these pages do not extinguish fires but light them in places where there would be books. The society in which Guy lives, the houses have screens on the walls that interact with the people, they never leave the house, except in a car at 200 km per hour, and they never smell the flowers. It is a world where people are absorbed by technology, loneliness and the speed of things. The protagonist never questions his existence until he meets a girl, Clarisse McClellan, his neighbor, who is described as crazy because she has the virtue of being different from the rest. This provokes a rebellion in Guy who begins to question his existence and his actions.
En esta novela Ray Bradbury se enfoca en los libros y en su destrucción, y que tan “peligrosos pueden ser”. Es una novela distópica que cuenta la historia de Guy Montag, un bombero, pero no como los que conocemos ahora. Los bomberos en estas páginas no apagan fuegos sino que los encienden en los lugares donde hubiera libros. La sociedad en donde vive Guy las casas tienes pantallas en las paredes que interactúan con las personas, estas no salen de casa nunca, a no ser en auto a 200 km por hora, y jamás huelen las flores. Es un mundo donde las personas están absorbidas por la tecnología, la soledad y la velocidad de las cosas. El protagonista jamás se cuestiona su existencia hasta que conoce a una chica, Clarisse McClellan, vecina suya y que es calificada de loca, ya que tiene la virtud de ser diferente al resto. Ello provoca una rebelión en Guy que comienza a cuestionarse su existencia y sus acciones.
It is a very intense book that gives way to reflection on critical thinking, which is why in this society books are burned, because they “poison” it and are a cause of suffering. That is the reason for the title. Fahrenheit 451 is the temperature at which paper burns. Guy, after interacting with the young woman, has the need to explore what is burning and this leads him to read a book. After this encounter he will no longer be the same and this will lead him down a series of paths where he joins a resistance group that is dedicated to memorizing and sharing books.
Es un libro muy intenso y que da paso a la reflexión sobre el pensamiento crítico, por eso en esta sociedad se queman los libros, porque lo “envenenan” y son causa de sufrimiento. De allí que surge el título. Fahrenheit 451 es la temperatura en la que se quema el papel. Guy, luego de interactuar con la joven, tiene la necesidad de explorar lo que está quemando y ello lo lleva a leer un libro. Luego de este encuentro ya no será el mismo y esto lo llevará por una serie de caminos donde se une a un grupo de resistencia que se dedica a memorizar y compartir libros.
This novel presents an excellent social critique and leads us to reflect on our environment, the technological advances that increasingly isolate us and its growing manipulation, the annulled human criticism, conformism and happiness. It also enhances the value of literature. This allows us to advance as a society, since knowledge enables us to develop critical thinking and helps us to remember the mistakes of the past so as not to fall into them.
Esta novela presenta una excelente crítica social y nos lleva a reflexionar sobre nuestro entorno, los avances tecnológicos que cada vez nos aíslan más y su manipulación creciente, la crítica humana anulada, el conformismo y la felicidad. Además realza el valor de la literatura. Esta nos permite avanzar como sociedad, ya que el conocimiento nos posibilita desarrollar un pensamiento crítico y nos ayuda a recordar los errores del pasado para no caer en ellos.
