I recently told you about the first book of the "Kindred's Curse" saga, and I told you that I liked it a lot but as its ending had been quite shocking I had to immediately read the second one, and so it was.
In this book Diem, has to face her fears and get out of her comfort zone, because with the gift (or curse?) that was given to her she has a great responsibility on her head. Now she is the queen of Lumnos and besides having to learn to cope with the politics that come with being queen, she tries to discover those secrets that her mother hid from her.
With the help of Luther and the House of Corbois she embarks on this journey full of many challenges, strategies and machinations, agreements and betrayals and of course, a lot of magic, although now she must learn to use it because it has been repressed all her life.
MY OPINION
Like the first book, I liked this one too, but a little less, simply because the main character most of the time seemed stupid to me. And I'll explain:
In a world dominated by the descendants, these or the vast majority have abused their power by mistreating the mortals, one being more cruel than others. That is why there is a rebel group that opposes all that and dedicate their lives to fight against the descendants, but in the end this group of rebels becomes what they swore to destroy, as they are just as cruel as the descendants they criticize so much, justifying themselves under the shield that "in war many sacrifices are made" and they do not care that descendant children die, since mortal children have died.
Diem doesn't like that, and now that she is queen she decided to be a compassionate and just queen who intends to fight for both mortals and descendants. And I thought that was fantastic, because it's true that not all descendants are cruel, just as not all mortals are good, but during the book she contradicted herself a lot in her actions.
And in the end she acted like a selfish and immature child, blinded by her own desires.
Being the queen, she shouldn't let the rebels do what they want, and it really bothered me that she let herself be manipulated very easily by them, since among their ranks is Diem's lifelong best friend, but in the end it's more than obvious that Henri doesn't care about her and was just using her to get revenge on the Descendants, never mind that something happens to her. I emphasize that I hate him.
So, in this book I liked to see Diem acting in a more calculated and intelligent way when dealing with the royals, but in the issues with the rebels I was really disappointed.
And the icing on the cake for me, was that Luther moved heaven and earth for her, and has shown her in a thousand ways that he cares about her, loves and respects her and yet Diem, had a lot of doubts about his friend Henri, who proposed to her, but didn't even really care about her and was just using her to fulfill his revenge.
It filled me with a lot of anger.
So, I may be too radical but honestly, the rebels really bothered me and they think they are the good guys in their story not realizing that they act just like the ones they are so judgmental of.
So I liked the book because I think it developed the story and world building very well, but I won't say I loved it madly because I was annoyed by Diem's attitude on several occasions.
The third book I won't read yet because it hasn't come out in Spanish, but if I'm not mistaken it comes out in a couple of months.

Hace poco les hablé del primer libro de la saga "Fuegoeterno", y les comenté que me había gustado mucho pero como su final había sido bastante impactante tenía que leer inmediatamente el segundo, y así fue.
En este libro Diem, tiene que enfrertarse a sus miedos y salir de su zona de confort, ya que con el don (¿o maldición?) que le fue otorgado tiene una gran responsabilidad sobre su cabeza. Ahora es la reina de Lumnos y además de tener que aprender a desenvolverse en la política que conlleva ser reina, intenta descubrir aquellos secretos que le ocultó su madre.
Con la ayuda de Luther y la Casa Corbois emprende este viaje lleno de muchos retos, estretegias y maquinaciones, acuerdos y traiciones y por supuesto, mucha magia, aunque ahora debe aprender a usarla pues estuvo toda su vida reprimida.
MI OPINION
Al igual que el primer libro, este también me gustó, pero un poco menos, simplemente porque la protagonista la mayor parte del tiempo me pareció una estúpida. Y te explico:
En un mundo dominado por los descendientes, estos o la gran mayoría han abusado de su poder maltratando a los mortales, uno siendo más crueles que otros. Es por ello que existe un grupo rebelde que se opone a todo eso y dedican su vida a luchar en contra de los descendientes, pero al final este grupo de rebeldes se convierte en lo que juraron destruir, ya que son igual de crueles que los descendientes que tanto critican, justificándose bajo el escudo de que "en la guerra se hacen muchos sacrificios" y no les importa que mueran niños descendientes, ya que han muerto niños mortales.
A Diem eso no le gusta, y ahora que es reina decidió ser una reina compasiva y justa que pretende luchar tanto por los mortales como por los descendientes. Y me pareció fantástico, porque es cierto que no todos los descendientes son crueles, así como no todos los mortales son buenos, pero durante el libro se contradecía mucho en sus acciones.
Y al final actuaba como una niña egoísta e inmadura, cegada por sus propios deseos.
Siendo la reina, no debe permitir que los rebeldes hagan lo que quieran, y me molestaba mucho que ella se dejaba manipular muy fácil por ellos, ya que entre sus filas está el mejor amigo de toda la vida de Diem, pero al final es más que obvio que Henri no se preocupa por ella y solo la estaba utilizando para vengarse de los Descendientes, sin importar que algo le pase a ella. Destaco que lo odio.
Entonces, en este libro me gustó ver a Diem actuando de una manera más calculada e inteligente a la hora de lidiar con la realeza, pero en los asuntos con los rebeldes de verdad que me decepcionó mucho.
Y la cereza del pastel para mí, fue que Luther movía cielo y tierra por ella, y le ha demostrado de mil formas que se preocupa por ella, la ama y respeta y aún así Diem, tenía muchas dudas sobre su amigo Henri, que le propuso matrimonio, pero que ni siquiera se preocupaba realmente por ella y solo la usaba para cumplir su venganza.
Me llenaba de mucha cólera.
Entonces, puede que yo sea muy radical pero honestamente, los rebeldes me molestaban mucho y ellos se creen los buenos en su historia sin darse cuenta de que actúan iguales a quienes tanto juzgan.
Entonces me gustó el libro porque creo que se desarrolló muy bien la historia y la construcción del mundo, pero no diré que me encantó con locura porque me molestaba la actitud de Diem en varias ocasiones.
El tercer libro no lo leeré aún porque no ha salido en español, pero si no me equivoco sale en un par de meses.
Así que muy pronto tendrás mis actualizaciones.
