On Saturday I was searching through my sister’s library looking for a book to read because I have a goal this 2022 to read at least 50 books and immediately this book caught my eyes so I decided to read it and this is my review of it.
PREVIEW
Book title: Why men marry bitches
Author: Sherry Argov
Year of production: 2006
Genre: Dating
FIRST LOOK
My first look at this book got me curious and also confused because of the title and I guess that was what the author was going for using such a title.
I believe that just by looking at this book a lot of people would want to read it to see what it is about which is a very good marketing plan.
PREMISE
The whole premise of the book is telling women that good girls come last, at least that was what I understood by reading it.
The author focused on the idea that a bitch in this contest wasn’t a cruel or a mean person like we all would presume but a woman who is clear about what she would accept and what she wouldn’t.
She further spoke about the characteristic of women that men crave and gave a lot of relationship principles and a few caught my eyes like relationship principle 3 and 50 which says;
He doesn’t marry a woman who is perfect, he marries the woman who is interesting.
AND
To encourage the right behavior, state what you want, and then give him the solutions. Show him how he can be your hero.
The author also had a lot of comparisons between a good girl and a “bitch" and explained why the bitch always won.
MY THOUGHTS
Reading this book was a bit annoying to me, it had a lot of silly stereotypes like saying that “men were like Tarzan or kingkong and they liked hunting for their food” and I kept on questioning most of what she was saying.
Furthermore, the book made relationships feel like a mind game to me and I didn’t exactly appreciate it because personally, I don’t date to play games or fake things which was advised a lot.
I do also think that most men might get offended if they read this book, at least my brother was when he read it.
Finally, even though there were a lot of gems regardless in this book, it was consumed for me by the other messages.
RATINGS
I will be generous and give this book a 4 out of 10, I really didn’t enjoy it as it was a bit boring and I have read better books in the dating/relationship genre.
Side note: it is important to note that there is a first part titled “why men love bitches” just in case you would want to read it.
IN CONCLUSION
For me, this isn't a book I would recommend to anyone to read or even read again, I felt like there was nothing special in the book.
