Regretting You: The Book That Made Me Rethink Colleen Hoover's Hype

I was never sold on Coolen Hoover's work. I find it overrated, and that is because I've read some but didn't quite like it. I've also read countless reviews on it, and it became meh. It was the kind of feeling that makes you barf because you've seen enough of it.

Anyhow, I wondered if my judgment was pretty groundless and one-sided, given that I was only reading a few of her creations. So about a couple days ago, I determined to give her a shot, another chance at altering my mind. That's when I picked Regretting You, one of her standalone pieces that is pretty underrated. This novel isn't as well-known as the Hopeless series or It Ends With Us series.

Regretting You is a story of betrayal and love but also a healing journey. It revolves around Morgan and her daughter, Clara, navigating the complexities of love and loss. The novel weaves Morgan's past and present, highlighting the exploration of her journey toward acceptance, hope, and, eventually, her true love.

Colleen Hoover has a way with words, and that is something I have to confess. She is capable of reeling us in her predictability of the story but also was able to give us the balance that a good fiction would. There was pretty much intricate behind the first chapter of the book, but the revelation of it all would add more depth and complexity to something that was pretty much shocking.

As readers, we can connect to the younger Morgan or even Clara. Depending on your age, the characters are so relatable that this novel is captivating and immersive. So, it's no wonder that this is quite popular among young adults, as they could perhaps find some type of deep connection to the characters' experiences.

Honestly, this book makes me want to get the physical copy, as the one I am reading is the e-book version. I think there are some lines that I want to highlight physically in the book. While my initial reaction was definitely indifferent, I ended up enjoying reading this one.

I've also read a few reviews on Verity, another standalone book of hers that seems to be more of my thing. Maybe then I'd eventually like Hoover more than I do right now.

Would I recommend checking out Regretting You? Sort of, if you need a light read and something widely popular—almost every book aficionado you know has read her works.

Lovely ✨

See you around and your entry hehe

I enjoyed reading Regretting You. It's actually one of my favourite work of hers because so many of the characters situations felt relatable. I'm not a fan of hers too but I liked this one

ooooh I see! I thought everyone was all into It Ends With Us series. I need to check verity and see what it really is all about.

@macchiata, I'm refunding 0.282 HIVE and 0.047 HBD, because there are no comments to reward.

I have several books by her in electronic version, but she has been so cancelled multiple times that I have not dared to read any of her books.

oooh hahaha I wonder why she's cancelled.

Hahahahaha

Hi @macchiata
I really liked your review, I have not read the book, however I am curious to read it, besides the introduction where it says that you give it another chance, the closing by saying that you ended up enjoying the book and want to get the physical version, gives me to understand that you liked it, I also in many cases prefer the printed books.

I love printed books, I can give marks on them and always revisit them when I could. I'd definitely get a paperbook of this one :)
