Most of what follows has been written, yesterday night, before bed and in bed. I wasn't able to fall asleep, due to more mosquitoes, and used this as an opportunity to write ( as I had planned and wrote about in How to Not Write a Book - Part 4 - Mrs Mosquito)
Hypersensitivosaurus and Mrs Mosquito
(Th)at night, she landed on his keyboard...
At first, he thought she was aiming for his hands, that were returning to the keys, over and over again. He guessed, also, that Mrs. M was attracted to the light coming from his screen
but then it struck him...
She wanted him to write about her.
She wanted to be the star.
And, until he would fulfill her wish, to become a character in his future book(s), she would keep bugging him, by sending more of her sisters than he could possibly squash.
Only now, a year and a half after coming up with a character named Mrs. Mosquito, I realize that you could also read her name as:
"Misses Mosquito".
I sincerly wonder, if I would miss her / them, if they wouldn't be around?
I guess we only miss things, places, people when they aren't with us any longer, right?
but who minds not having bloodsucking beasties, or other kinds of parasites, around? ;<)
Right now, I start wondering if she misses me, when this Mrs. ( pronounce as "Misses" ) isn't bugging me, by zooming around my head ( she just did! ). It sure seems like she can't do without me / my blood/ my sweat/ my feromones/ my nitrogen and so on and so forth.
I could be flattered here, but I prefer 'flattening' her instead. I would much rather have another type of Mrs. around me. One who doesn't suck my blood. In all honesty, I am not really into vampires in real life, although I like to watch a good vampire flick, every now and then.
I had plenty of inspiration, in bed. The mosquitoes kept swarming around my head. And I - in turn - kept grabbing my phone to record voice messages.
Here's some of them:
What do you want?
he said out loud.
Why me?
making it all about him, instead of about her...
You know I'm coldblooded, right?
Hypersensitivosaurus whined.
And I thought you guys, girls, didn't like the cold?
So why drink me?
Then she came back bugging him
and he realized that asking questions
might not be the best idea
as she would return for answers.
and - until he actually spoke or understood her language -
she would keep zooming around his earholes.
IDEA:
draw Hypersensitivosaurus with ears
I drew this fellow just now. Is it me, or does he look like a mix between a monkey and a kangaroo here?
Here's another one of last night's voice recordings, written down:
He decided to lay down on his back,
making sure that his face was the only part uncovered.
He hoped that his dinosaur jaw
would scare the buggers off
and stop them from landing on his face
but he was mistaken
The first Mrs. Mosquito landed on his nose.
He tried to ignore it
Then it happened again
he could feel her landing
and blew her away.
The second one landed on his forehead
he managed to ignore it
and felt pretty proud about his ZEN like state
He felt like HyperZENsitivosaurus
but when a handful of mosquitoes seemed to land on his face
all around the same time,
to do some family feeding frenzy,
he couldn't stand it any longer...
His right arm reached out for a pillow,
and slammed it down on his own face.
He might have squashed a handful of them,
as afterwards they were all silent.
Although he hadn't managed to stay calm,
he seemed to have scared them away.
He asked the fireflies to stay far away from his bed, this night.
He wouldn't do any bed time reading, for a change,
afraid to attract the mosquitoes
( they seemed to like stories )
I recorded one more voice message, around 2 AM and might share it in a follow up post ( or not ).
And then, today, feeling extremely tired after another interrupted night, I walked up to my attic. This is where I store my painting utensils and where I paint. I then discovered, what became the title of this post:
one of the windows was wide open.
And, as I haven't been in my attic for days, I'm pretty sure that this was an easy way for these dozens of mosquitoes to enter my house, in the last couple of days.
It must have been as if I was inviting them in, haha!
I went on a walk, this afternoon, with a friend ( and his dog ), and when I told him about my mosquito adventures, he informed me that he has a special ( blue ) light that attracts them and gives them an electrical shock.
If I would like to borrow it from him?
( he had two of those lights ).
It has been hanging in my living room, for a couple of hours now, and I plan to take it to my bedroom, later.
In all honesty, I have some doubts about it's functionality,
as there's some mosquitoes around me, here,
and they seem to be more interested in me than in that lamp.
Perhaps they have grown extra clever, these days?
Correction: it might work somewhat.
I hope it works. I think it works. I trust that it works ;<)
TO BE CONTINUED... ( hopefully, not because I keep being bugged by them, but mainly because I got plenty of inspiration and I want to write this book, so I will keep bugging you with Mrs. Mosquito stories, every now and then ;<) )
