Fruit soup with natural sweetener using dates. No need to add sugar anymore.
Many fruits do have natural sweetness. But some don't. That's why many people enjoy fruit by adding it to salad dressing.
The salad dressings that today's young people often use actually contain mayonnaise and lots of sweeteners. So as much as possible, eating raw fruit without added sugar is healthier, to get the most out of the fruit.
This time I will make fruit soup with raw coconut milk with dates. This can be used as a healthier alternative to fruit salad. Also, it stays sweet because it uses dates as a natural sweetener.
In fact, my husband and nephews finished this mixed fruit quickly. I also like how dates with coconut milk can be a delicious sweet sauce for serving raw fruits.
The menu I made was inspired by the fact that there were a lot of fruits that were almost overripe and I had to finish them quickly. Plus, there are several shells of young coconut flesh without water (young coconut water is previously used to make herbal drinks).
I also looked for ways to serve raw fruits in a fun way and of course, delicious. So, my husband and my nephew can also enjoy the menu.
Besides having a large supply of fruit, another inspiration for other menu variations comes from iced dessert from the popular Indonesian fast-food brand Indonesia. I was inspired by the iced dessert menu which served avocado, young coconut flesh, jackfruit, jelly, in sweet coconut milk. The menu is called Ice Teller.
Mixed Fruit Soup With Dates is my choice. That's also because now I have fresh dates, and coconut milk in my kitchen. Making dates milk is the right thing for gravy/suace also with a mixture of coconut milk. I made my own version even though I was inspired by the iced dessert menu.
Here I use tropical fruits that I can easily get. Super sweet avocado, mango, and Mandarin Oranges. You can use Apple and melon.
THE INGREDIENTS
Fruits
- 1 ripe mango
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1/2-1 shell of young coconut flesh, according to your taste
- 2-3 sweet Mandarin Oranges
Gravy/Sauce
- 2 cups of coconut milk (use coconut milk with a thin texture. If it is too thick, you can add ready to drink water.
- 7 dates
- a pinch of salt (to create a savory taste to balance the sweet taste)
INSTRUCTIONS
How to serve this dessert is very easy. We only need to make gravy/sauce and also cut the fruit into small pieces.
First, set up dates. Discard the dates seeds. Then transfer the dates into a blender along with coconut milk and salt.
Blend dates and coconut milk until they really become soft. The really soft texture will mean that we no longer need to filter dates milk. Like my version, I don't filter dates milk anymore. But if you want to filter the dates milk again, that's no problem at all. 😊 Set aside the dates milk then, prepare all the fruits.
For the coconut, I used my favorite traditional shaver.
That way will make the young coconut flesh have a texture similar to noodles 😊😍
For the mango, I cut the mango into squares. But you can use a fruit cutter in the shape of a fruit.
For avocado, then I use a round fruit cutter. I did this so that their shapes varied.
Meanwhile, I just need to peel the Mandarin Oranges without removing the orange pith. That's because the Mandarin Oranges I have have no seeds at all. So, make sure you have orange fruit without seeds.
SERVING
After all the fruit has been cut into small pieces, it's time to serve it with dates milk. You can also add ice cubes when the weather is hot.
I served Mixed Fruit Soup with no ice cubes this time. I think this is quite fresh because the weather in my area is not hot. If the weather is hot, I will definitely add ice cubes 🤣🤣🤣
Well, I'm glad there's no ripe fruit left. I just enjoyed a small cup of this dessert. The rest went into the mouths of my husband and my three nephews. 😊❤️
You should try making this fruit soup if you have dates at home. It's really temptingly sweet. ❤️❤️❤️
