Enjoyed my Dadar Gulung with a cup of black coffee in the afternoon
Last Sunday, when I had a day off and went to Taipei city, on my return I stopped at the “Indonesian Shop” to buy various necessities ahead of Ramadan, where we as Muslims fasting for one month. Usually during the month of Ramadan, I don't take a day off, because it saves energy. So choose, to stay at home.
I bought this, but spoiled. So I can't eat.😭
While paying for groceries, near the cashier, he saw two packs of “Dadar Gulung” a traditional Indonesian snack filled with coconut mixed with sugar. I haven't eaten this snack in a long time, because it's hard to get. Finally, I bought a box to take home.
Arrived home at 9 pm. Already tired, there are also writings that must be completed and sent to the editor. I am forgot to put the it in the fridge. Because I think it's still winter too. Food outside is definitely safe. However, beyond expectations. On Monday afternoon, when I was about to eat it, it was stale. So I'm very sad. :(😭
Because I really missed and wanted to eat, coincidentally, Sunday was also shopping for ingredients for making food, in the end I made my own Darlung, and I was enjoy it successfully with a cup of coffee.:)😍
Ingredients needed to make dadar gulung (darlung):
• 100 grams of wheat flour
• 1 egg

• 340 ml of water
• A pinch of salt
• A pinch of vanilla
• A pinch of pandan paste
Ingredients for coconut filling
• grated coconut
• palm sugar
• A pinch of salt
• A pinch of vanilla
Step to Making!
• Make the skin: Mix all the skin ingredients: Wheat flour, coconut, coconut milk etc
• Making Contents: Boil water and brown sugar until dissolved, remove and strain. Add grated coconut, cook until the water dries up.
• Grease a frying pan with a little oil (The skillet must be hot)
• Put the dough into the skin: the shape is round, but mine is not perfect. LOL
• Hotly put the contents of the coconut, then roll it like an envelope
• Dadar Gulung ready to be served.
Although the taste is not as perfect as those sold in "Indonesia Shop" but I enjoy my Darlung with a cup of black coffee in the afternoon.
It means, I can make my own traditional Indonesian snacks that I like. Next, can make more to make it more perfect 😍💓.
That's all my stories about
#dadargulung, thanks for stopping and reading. I am very happy to be able to share my recipe, photography, and my life as an Indonesian in Taiwan. See you in the next post. May we all always be given health and prosperity always.
