Having a stock of bananas that are too ripe does make us confused to process them into delicious and interesting foods to serve as snacks in your home.

Banana is a fruit that is easy to find, and has a relatively cheap selling value. Bananas are also one of the fruits that have a short shelf life, because they ripen quickly, therefore bananas that are too ripe are often thrown away. Ripe bananas will be very delicious if processed properly, with a combination of other ingredients that will attract the attention of your family.

Last week's stock of bananas in the fridge, made me confused to prepare a good dish at home, so the bananas became ripe and the skin began to change color. Because I'm the type of person who really appreciates food, it's a shame if fruit that can still be used is wasted, so I got the idea to make a banana cake with dates as a topping. The soft texture of bananas and easy to find by the body makes me really like it if it is processed into delicious food like this. To make it easy to prepare, let's look at my simple recipe.

Banana Cake With Dates

Ingredients used

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 200 grams of wheat flour
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • 8 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 whole date**

Cooking Preparation

Step 1: The first step I prepare by peeling the banana peel and mashing the banana. In making banana-based snacks, the softness of the texture will affect how smooth we crush the bananas. Since I wanted the aroma and taste of the bananas to stay real in the cake I didn't crush the bananas as finely as possible.

Step 2: Next add salt, then baking soda, then stir until evenly distributed, until the dough is completely blended.

Step 3: Then, add 50 grams of sugar or according to your taste. For those of you who don't want sugar, you can skip without sugar, because it will not reduce the deliciousness of this cake.

Step 4: Then stir again until the sugar is crushed, and let stand a few moments. Then slowly add flour and cooking oil and mix again until the dough is really smooth.

Step 5: Finally, pour the dough into a baking sheet that has been greased with cooking oil first, pour it until the dough runs out.

Step 6: Then, cut the dates according to your taste, and sprinkle over the entire cake dough. Now for those of you who want the dates to be stirred in the cake, you can too, and it will give the natural sweetness of the dates.

Step 7 : Next, steam the cake in a preheated steamer, and for the steaming process, don't forget to use a cloth on the cover so that the steam generated from the steamer lid doesn't fall on the surface of the cake, and this will affect the texture of your cake.

Step 8: Steam for 45 to 60 minutes so that your cake is perfectly cooked, then after it is cooked, wait until it cools down and then remove it from the mold. Finally, the cake is ready to be served on your serving plate, you can serve this cake to accompany your friends drinking tea in the afternoon or evening.

I've seen banana cake before but I really like the look of yours the best. It's really pretty and delicious looking. I will have to try it since I bought some cheap ripe bananas not knowing why. They were just cheap.😊

You must try this, especially if you just found a ripe banana, this is really very coincidental.

This recipe is great @nurfay, mixing bananas with dates certainly give an exquisite flavor. I liked this cooking technique, it is ideal when we do not have a conventional oven. Good recipe, thanks for bringing it to the community. Greetings.

You're right bananas with dates will give a different impression on food, steaming is the easiest technique in this preparation, because I don't have an electric oven yet.
