Librarian, lover of reading, collector?

in #hive-1806582 months ago

Some time ago, I hosted a friend from childhood. We were sitting in the living room and reminiscing about events from our youth. At one point, he commented on the number of books we have on the shelves in our apartment.
"Well, you are quite the collectors," he said.

Neither my partner nor I have ever considered ourselves collectors.
Rather, we are lovers of books and reading.
"No, no, I'm a fan of reading, but I get my books from the library. You two, if you're not a library, then you're collectors," he said...

We took him to another room and showed him the rest of the books we own in a showcase and on the shelves. "Yes, yes. definitely collectors, " he said. 🙂

When he already called us collectors, so let me agree with him 🙂

Because of that, I will show you one of my favorite collections, the series of books by writer Ju Nesbe.

Detective Harry Hule series, 13 books and ordered backwards as they were published, and numbered as I read them...:

13-13 Krvavi mesec (Blood moon, Blodmåne), published in 2022, published in Serbian in 2023.

12-12 Nož (A knife, Kniv), published in 2019, published in the Serbian language in 2019.

11-11 Žeđ (Thirst,Tørst), published in 2017, published in Serbian in 2017.

10-10 Policija (Police, Politi), published in 2013, published in Serbian in 2016.

9-7 Utvara (Apparition, Gjenferd), published in 2011, published in Serbian in 2015.

8-6 Oklopno srce (Armored heart, Panserhjerte), published in 2009, published in Serbian in 2015.

7-5 Sneško (Snowman, Snømannen), published in 2007, published in Serbian in 2013.

6-4 Spasitelj (Savior, Frelseren), published in 2005, published in Serbian in 2013.

5-3 Solomonovo slovo (Solomon's Letter, Marekors), published in 2003, published in Serbian in 2010.

4-2 Odmazda (Revenge, Sorgenfri), published in 2002, published in Serbian in 2010.

3-1 Crvendać (Ruddock, Rødstrupw), published in 2000, published in Serbian in 2009.

2-9 Bubašvabe (Cockroaches, Kakerlakkene)? published in 1998, published in Serbian in 2016.

1-8 Slepi miš (Bat, Flaggermusmannen) published in 1997, published in Serbian in 2015.

Yes, that's right, I started reading from the third book in the series, which was the first published in Serbia.
It wasn't clear to me either, I guess the publisher didn't know which books Ju Nesbe wrote before Crvendać or it was risky for them to print the first, thinnest book 😂
I also grasped the plot from the third one, I was pleased when, after a few years, I returned to the beginning and clarified some more details for myself, and if you like morbid detective stories, you must read it.

After reading the entire Harry series, I searched for other works by Ju Nesbe and completed my collection with:
Lovci na glave (Headhunters, Hodejegerne), published in 2008, published in Serbian in 2012.

Sin (Son, Sønnen), published in 2014, published in Serbian in 2014.

Krv na snegu (Blood on the snow, Blod på snø), published in 2015, published in Serbian in 2017.

Ponoćno sunce (Midnight sun, Mere blod), published in 2015, published in Serbian in 2017.

Magbet (Macbeth), published in 2018, published in Serbian in 2018.

Kraljevstvo (Kingdom, Kongeriket), published in 2020, issued in Serbian language in 2020.

Stručnjak za ljubomoru (An expert for Jealousy, Sjalusimanen og andre fortellinger), published in 2021, published in Serbian in 2021.

Ostrvo pacova (Island of rats, Rotteøya og andre fertellinger), published in 2021, published in Serbian in 2021.

Kuća noći (House of Night, Natthuset), published in 2023, published in Serbian in 2023.

And the following. bought last weekend. This one is waiting on the shelf one of the next weekends, when it will be read in a breath. It's a sequel, and I believe it will delight me, since the previous one was also phenomenal:

Kralj USA (King USA (Kingdom II), Kongen au Os), published in 2024 published in Serbian language in 2024.

Although in these books there is no mention of my favorite Norwegian detective, whose adventures I followed for many years, all the difficulties in love, sex, drinking, murders, drugs, family, work with which he lived, with all the abnormalities, the bloody scenes, fornication and police actions that I replayed in my mind like a movie, they do not lack all those elements either. Other characters are just as "crazy" as Harry Hule was.

Well, that one sure looks like a real book collection. How nice that you can have with you the books you like :)

In ten years, when I forget the plot of these crime novels, I will definitely read them again 😀
Ghat's why I keep them.
In addition, I recommend them to friends and borrow them if someone wants to read them.
