Fashion Illustration 001 - Green & Silver Layered Dress

in #hive-1807572 days ago

Greetings Hive

Just an old hobby that resulted hundreds (Not exaggerating) of drawings. I have decided to update and upgrade each and every one and share them on here.
(If anyone wants to use any of these, please do at least ask or let me know first, it's only decent and I will probably provide a higher quality image.)

Just a few out of MANY

Pencil sketch for the upgraded version, no real changes from the original for this one.

Cleaned up ink drawing. These are also saved for possible digital colouring with other colour options, once again, if anyone is interested, ask me about it and I will see what I can do.

Original and new version, the smaller drawing just displays better on the page. Hoping to work on better presentation in the future.

Adding some colour. I have limited access to anything right now so the glitter paint had to be done using a combination of an old empty fine tipped pen, thin brush and even a needle, all dipped in a mixture of wood glue, water and glitter flakes and powders.

Side by side, the colours don't show true on screen but I much prefer the newer version.

The finished work and the original.

Awful photo quality, but working on it.

Of course, there has to be some video. Editing skills should improve in time.

Well, that's it for now, thanks for reading!

Till next time.

That's beautiful ! Please tell me you're going to sew the actual dress !

Thank you! I am hoping to someday be able to! Have attempted to teach myself how to create dressmaking patterns but I'm definitely nowhere near that level yet.

It's definitely something that takes practice. I can make Napoleonic period uniforms, but find modern tailoring a bizarre thing because everything is designed as a one-size-fits-all.

The best start for me was learning how to do piping, buttons and buttonholes properly. I learned the techniques and only moved onto the shapes afterwards. Having an entire roll of calico in the loft to make test pieces out of is a huge help !

It would be really cool if someone were to make of of these dresses!

It would! Hopefully someday I can finally learn not to be awful at sewing and make a few.

Apparently @alonicus is good at that kind of thing 😜

Hey, maybe you can find someone on Hive that would be willing to do something. Someone who does that sort of thing? I dunno.

Might be a fun idea. World definitely make for a few interesting posts at least.
