While food shouldn't be seen as medicines, the health benefits associated with some foods makes it difficult not to be seen as medicines. That medicinal value serves as a huge advantage to vegans generally. Although I don't condemn nor promote food choice, I am fond of vegans. I am not a vegan anyway.
Today, I decided to go more to the vegan lane to assist the family health-wise because everyone's health has been affected due to various factors. That affected my commitment to the Hive community lately. 😭😭. That's by the way. The meal prepared today was a plant sauce with yam.
The plant according to hubby's language is called Nchuanwu (I hope I got the spelling 🙂) or simply Scent leaves, in English. Do you know the health benefits of Scent leaves? Well, I started off by plucking the leaves for washing and slicing.
The leaves plucked off before slicing
The leftover stems.
Thereafter, I washed the leaves thoroughly with water and salt, to reduce or remove any germs..
During the salt addition.
After washing and rinsing severally, I had to slice the leaves for easy munching.
During slicing.
After slicing the leaves, I equally sliced some onions and ginger, to go with it.
Sliced onions..
I used palm oil to fry it a bit in order to help it blend and soften.
Alternatively called red oil locally.
After frying the constituents for about 5mins, our sauce was ready to go with the already boiled yam.
Bon appetit 🥳
That's all for the preparation. Have you had anything like this before? Please share your experiences.
