It started in 2005 when the World Health Organization along with many countries offered to celebrate this day. An event that raises awareness to the importance that donating blood means to the health industry, as the range of uses is way more diverse than anyone thinks. According to a survey, every second someone needs blood. 38000 blood donations are required every day. According to a survey, on 6 December 2013, India made a world record in blood donation. About 61000+ people donated blood on this day. A man can donate blood every third month and a woman can donate blood every fourth month. To donate blood, a healthy male is required which is about 50 kg. Many people donate blood on this day. And in many places, people are encouraged for blood donation by setting up camps. On an average a person has about 10 pints of blood.
