Some time ago, I was walking to explore nature in the hinterland of North Aceh. Yes, almost every three times a week, I spend the afternoon taking nature walks in the hills not far from my town.
In addition to enjoying walks to explore nature, I also like to capture natural objects that I happen to pass by. But among all that, I prefer to capture insects that I think are unique and rare.
Here is one that was captured by me. The common blue jewel, or Heliocypha perforata species, is one of several damselflies belonging to the family Chlorocyphidae.
The common blue jewel is a typical damselfly that can be found near freshwater creeks. This insect tends to like places that are moist and relatively shady from sun exposure.
I think the common jewel damselfly is one part of the natural beauty in Sumatra, which is famous for its rich flora and fauna, maybe also on several other islands in Indonesia.
