No dirás falso testimonio / Thou shalt not bear false witness
Saludos, hermanos de @mcgicares. En esta oportunidad voy a compartir con ustedes un mensaje que compartí el sábado en la congregación y que es la continuación de la serie acerca de los diez mandamientos. En esta ocasión se trata del noveno mandamiento, en el que se nos prohíbe decir lo que no hemos visto, bien porque no somos testigos de eso o porque no sucedió como lo estamos contando.

En las cuatro versiones revisadas, podemos notar que el mandamiento se refiere a no mentir con nuestro prójimo, lo que puede suceder de dos maneras diferentes:
LA PRIMERA: Cuando tengo la intención que mi prójimo sufra alguna consecuencia por algo que no hizo, que a su vez puede ser de la siguiente manera:
Una consecuencia positiva para la persona de quien hablo, pero negativa para quien pregunta, como sucede cuando un padre pregunta si su hijo ha estado en un lugar, situación o relación peligrosa, y niego para evitar que sufra un castigo, caso en el que en vez de ayudar, lo perjudico porque lo estoy ayudando a sufrir una consecuencia que sus padres desean evitar;
Una consecuencia negativa para la persona de quien hablo, pero positiva para quien pregunta, como sucede cuando me pongo de acuerdo con el interrogador para hacer quedar mal a alguien y sufra un castigo por algo que no hizo, como sucede en el caso del inocente que es encarcelado por un delito que no cometió.
LA SEGUNDA: se produce cuando doy una respuesta falsa a quien pregunta para que ella misma sufra una consecuencia injusta, como sucede en el caso que hayan ido buscando a esa persona y le diga que nadie ha preguntado por ella, es decir, le niego la verdad que puede ayudarlo a solucionar un problema o que puede librarlo de un problema.
La mentira es una de las cosas más despreciables delante del Señor, tal como nos dice en su palabra:
Proverbios 6: 16 Hay seis cosas que el Señor odia, no, son siete las que detesta: 17 los ojos arrogantes, la lengua mentirosa, las manos que matan al inocente, 18 el corazón que trama el mal, los pies que corren a hacer lo malo, 19 el testigo falso que respira mentiras y el que siembra discordia en una familia.
Repasemos el verso anterior: El Señor DETESTA a quienes mantienen una actitud ARROGANTE, al MENTIROSO, al que MATA AL INOCENTE, al que PLANEA HACER MAL, al que corre a HACER LO MALO, al testigo que MIENTE SOBRE OTRO, y al que DIVIDE A LAS FAMILIAS.
Si el Señor DETESTA a este tipo de personas, mal podríamos repetir la frase trillada que dice “Dios ama al pecador, pero aborrece el pecado”, porque estamos levantando un falso testimonio contra nuestro prójimo y tomando el nombre del Señor en vano, es decir, violamos dos mandamientos para hacer sentir bien al pecador que no es más que un ofensor descarado del Altísimo.
Pongamos un ejemplo con los mandamientos que ya hemos estudiado:
Soy llamado a declarar sobre un HOMICIDIO y digo que el acusado es culpable sin serlo, afectando así al acusado y a toda su familia, pero también dejando suelto a un asesino, lo que afecta a toda la sociedad;
Me llaman a declarar sobre un ADULTERIO y niego que sea cierto, cuando me consta que ha sucedido, dejando impune al infractor, afectando a toda una familia y dejando impune al infractor;
Rindo declaración sobre un ROBO y digo que la persona es culpable sin serlo, llevando a la cárcel a un inocente y dejando suelto a un ladrón;
Me llaman como testigo para comprobar un FALSO TESTIMONIO y repito lo que dijo el mentiroso, engañando a todo el sistema judicial, afectando a muchas familias, dejando libre a un delincuente y haciendo quedar bien a un mentiroso.
Pueden suceder también los casos contrarios, en los que declaro a favor del culpable, para que quede libre y sea un caso donde nadie repare el daño causado contra alguien.
Si ya sabemos que las personas que hablan falsedad contra su prójimo son INDIGNAS DE RECIBIR CONFIANZA, ni decir de las personas que hablan MENTIRA CONTRA ELLAS MISMAS, como sucede en los casos siguientes:
Una padre pregunta a su hijo si está CONSUMIENDO DROGAS y lo niega aun cuando es cierto, lo que lo hace caer cada vez más en la adicción, llegando a matar para saciar su sed por drogas;
Un padre pregunta a su hijo si mantiene una RELACIÓN CON ALGUIEN PELIGROSO y lo niega siendo cierto, siendo conseguido muerto por estar donde no debía en el momento que no debía;
Un padre pregunta a su hijo si TIENE NOVIA Y LO NIEGA, sucediendo lo que va a suceder con el tiempo, caer en fornicación y un seguro embarazo, dañando su vida, la vida de su mujer porque ya no es novia, que por cierto el noviazgo es antibíblico, y lo peor es que dañan la vida del bebé que es inocente de la estupidez de sus padres.
Un ejemplo de decir la verdad a costa de la propia vida y de los mentirosos que buscan condenar a un inocente, podemos verlo en el siguiente pasaje:
Mateo 26: 57 Luego la gente que había arrestado a Jesús lo llevó a la casa de Caifás, el sumo sacerdote, donde se habían reunido los maestros de la ley religiosa y los ancianos. 58 Mientras tanto, Pedro lo siguió de lejos y llegó al patio del sumo sacerdote. Entró, se sentó con los guardias y esperó para ver cómo acabaría todo. 59 Adentro, los principales sacerdotes y todo el Concilio Supremo intentaban encontrar testigos que mintieran acerca de Jesús para poder ejecutarlo. 60 Sin embargo, aunque encontraron a muchos que accedieron a dar un falso testimonio, no pudieron usar el testimonio de ninguno. Finalmente, se presentaron dos hombres 61 y declararon: «Este hombre dijo: “Puedo destruir el templo de Dios y reconstruirlo en tres días”». 62 Entonces el sumo sacerdote se puso de pie y le dijo a Jesús: «Bien, ¿no vas a responder a estos cargos? ¿Qué tienes que decir a tu favor?». 63 Pero Jesús guardó silencio. Entonces el sumo sacerdote le dijo: —Te exijo, en el nombre del Dios viviente, que nos digas si eres el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios. 64 Jesús respondió: —Tú lo has dicho; y en el futuro verán al Hijo del Hombre sentado en el lugar de poder, a la derecha de Dios, y viniendo en las nubes del cielo. 65 Entonces el sumo sacerdote se rasgó las vestiduras en señal de horror y dijo: «¡Blasfemia! ¿Para qué necesitamos más testigos? Todos han oído la blasfemia que dijo. 66 ¿Cuál es el veredicto?». «¡Culpable!—gritaron—. ¡Merece morir!». 67 Entonces comenzaron a escupirle en la cara a Jesús y a darle puñetazos. Algunos le daban bofetadas 68 y se burlaban: «¡Profetízanos, Mesías! ¿Quién te golpeó esta vez?».
Un mentiroso es una PERSONA DESPRECIABLE y siempre llevará una capa de vergüenza, decir, las personas tratarán de mantenerse lejos del mentiroso porque no es solo capaz de DAÑARSE A SÍ MISMO sino que puede INCULPAR A QUIEN SEA solo por deleite o para complacer a otra persona. Revisemos el siguiente pasaje:
Efesios 6: 14 Defiendan su posición, poniéndose el cinturón de la verdad y la coraza de la justicia de Dios.
Pasaje referido a la armadura de Dios para defendernos en la guerra espiritual, pero si actuamos con MENTIRA E INJUSTICIA, es como un militar que sale a la guerra SIN CORREA Y SIN CHALECO ANTIBALAS, lo que implica una muerte segura.
Si digo que eres cristiano porque lo pareces, te miento, así como si te digo que eres un vencedor solo porque tienes muchas cosas, porque quien aparenta ser y no lo es, solo es un desventurado. Veamos los siguientes pasajes:
Mateo 21: 18 Por la mañana, cuando Jesús regresaba a Jerusalén, tuvo hambre 19 y vio que había una higuera junto al camino. Se acercó para ver si tenía higos, pero solo había hojas. Entonces le dijo: «¡Que jamás vuelva a dar fruto!». De inmediato, la higuera se marchitó.
La higuera era pura apariencia, pero nada de frutos, como muchas personas que mantienen una apariencia de piedad, pero con hechos la niegan (2 Timoteo 3:5-7).
Apocalipsis 3: 17 Tú dices: “Soy rico, tengo todo lo que quiero, ¡no necesito nada!”. Y no te das cuenta de que eres un infeliz y un miserable; eres pobre, ciego y estás desnudo. 18 Así que te aconsejo que de mí compres oro—un oro purificado por fuego—y entonces serás rico. Compra también ropas blancas de mí, así no tendrás vergüenza por tu desnudez, y compra ungüento para tus ojos, para que así puedas ver. 19 Yo corrijo y disciplino a todos los que amo. Por lo tanto, sé diligente y arrepiéntete de tu indiferencia.
Cierro con esto: La mentira siempre será expuesta y la vergüenza será sobre el mentiroso, así como el inocente será exaltado al conocerse la verdad, por otra parte, debemos recordar que la mentira proviene del diablo y quien la practica disfrutará del mismo destino que quien la promueve. Si has dicho, dices o piensas decir un falso testimonio, estás a tiempo de corregir. No esperes sufrir el pago listo para el mentiroso que no es más que la ira del Creador, incluso, si asistes a un lugar donde sabes que predican un evangelio adulterado, corre de ahí porque tanto quien enseña la mentira como quien la recibe sabiendo que es mentira, están bajo maldición.

In this opportunity I am going to share with you a message that I shared on Saturday in the congregation and that is the continuation of the series about the ten commandments. This time it is about the ninth commandment, in which we are forbidden to say what we have not seen, either because we are not witnesses of it or because it did not happen as we are telling it.

In the four versions reviewed, we can notice that the commandment refers to not lying with our neighbor, which can happen in two different ways:
THE FIRST: When I intend that my neighbor will suffer some consequence for something he did not do, which in turn can be in the following way:
A positive consequence for the person I am talking about, but negative for the one asking, as happens when a parent asks if his child has been in a dangerous place, situation or relationship, and I deny to prevent him from suffering a punishment, case in which instead of helping, I am harming him because I am helping him to suffer a consequence that his parents wish to avoid;
A negative consequence for the person I am talking about, but positive for the questioner, as happens when I agree with the interrogator to make someone look bad and suffer a punishment for something he did not do, as happens in the case of the innocent person who is imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.
THE SECOND: it occurs when I give a false answer to the one who asks so that he himself suffers an unjust consequence, as it happens in the case that they have gone looking for that person and I tell him that nobody has asked for him, that is to say, I deny him the truth that can help him to solve a problem or that can free him from a problem.
Lying is one of the most despicable things before the Lord, as he tells us in his word:
Proverbs 6: 16 There are six things that the Lord hates, nay, there are seven that he hates: 17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, 18 a heart that plots evil, feet that run to do evil, 19 a false witness that breathes lies, and one who sows discord in a family.
Let us review the above verse: The Lord STOPS those who maintain an ARROGANT attitude, the LIAR, the one who KILLS THE INNOCENT, the one who PLANS TO DO EVIL, the one who RUNS TO DO EVIL, the witness who LIES ABOUT ANOTHER, and the one who DIVIDES FAMILIES.
If the Lord DETESTS this type of person, we could hardly repeat the trite phrase that says "God loves the sinner, but hates the sin", because we are bearing false witness against our neighbor and taking the name of the Lord in vain, that is, we violate two commandments to make the sinner who is nothing more than a blatant offender of the Most High feel good.
Let's take an example with the commandments we have already studied:
I am called to testify about a HOMICIDE and I say that the accused is guilty without being guilty, thus affecting the accused and his whole family, but also letting a murderer go free, which affects the whole society;
I am called to testify about an ADULTERY and I deny that it is true, when I know for a fact that it has happened, leaving the offender unpunished, affecting a whole family and leaving the offender unpunished;
I give a statement about a THEFT and say that the person is guilty without being guilty, taking an innocent person to jail and letting a thief go free;
I am called as a witness to prove a FALSE TESTIMONY and I repeat what the liar said, deceiving the whole judicial system, affecting many families, letting a criminal go free and making a liar look good.
It can also happen the opposite cases, in which I declare in favor of the guilty, so that he is free and it is a case where no one repairs the damage caused against someone.
If we already know that people who speak falsehood against their neighbor are UNDEEMABLE TO BE TRUSTED, let alone people who speak LIES AGAINST THEMSELVES, as happens in the following cases:
A parent asks her son if he is CONSUMING DRUGS and he denies it even when it is true, which makes him fall further and further into addiction, going so far as to kill to quench his thirst for drugs;
A father asks his son if he has a RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE DANGEROUS and he denies it being true, getting himself killed for being where he should not have been at the wrong time;
A father asks his son if HE HAS A BRIDE AND HE DENIES IT, happening what is going to happen in time, falling into fornication and a sure pregnancy, damaging his life, his wife's life because she is no longer a bride, which by the way courtship is unbiblical, and the worst thing is that they damage the life of the baby who is innocent of the stupidity of his parents.
An example of telling the truth at the cost of one's own life and liars who seek to condemn an innocent person, we can see it in the following passage:
Matthew 26: 57 Then the people who had arrested Jesus took him to the house of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of the religious law and the elders had gathered. 58 Meanwhile Peter followed him from a distance and came to the courtyard of the high priest. He went in, sat down with the guards, and waited to see how it would turn out. 59 Inside, the chief priests and the whole Supreme Council were trying to find witnesses who would lie about Jesus so that they could execute him. 60 However, although they found many who agreed to give false testimony, they could not use the testimony of any of them. Finally, two men 61 came forward and declared, "This man said, 'I can destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.'" 62 Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, "Well, aren't you going to answer these charges? What do you have to say for yourself?" 63 But Jesus kept silent. Then the high priest said to him, "I demand, in the name of the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Messiah, the Son of God. 64 Jesus answered, "You have said it; and in the future they will see the Son of Man sitting in the place of power at the right hand of God, and coming on the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priest tore his clothes in horror and said, "Blasphemy! Why do we need more witnesses? Everyone has heard the blasphemy he spoke. 66 What is the verdict?" "Guilty!" they shouted, "He deserves to die!". 67 Then they began to spit in Jesus' face and to punch him. Some slapped him 68 and taunted, "Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who hit you this time?"
A liar is a DESPRECIABLE PERSON and will always wear a cloak of shame, i.e., people will try to stay away from the liar because he is not only capable of HARMING HIMSELF but he can INCULT ANYONE JUST FOR DELIGHT or to please someone else. Let us review the following passage:
Ephesians 6: 14 Stand for your position, putting on the belt of truth and the breastplate of the righteousness of God.
Passage referring to the armor of God to defend us in spiritual warfare, but if we act with LIES AND INJUSTICE, it is like a military man who goes out to war WITHOUT A BELT AND WITHOUT AN AN ANTI BULLFIGHTER'S VEST, which implies certain death.
If I say that you are a Christian because you look like one, I lie to you, just as if I tell you that you are an overcomer only because you have many things, because he who appears to be and is not, is only a wretch. Let us look at the following passages:
Matthew 21: 18 In the morning, as Jesus was returning to Jerusalem, he was hungry 19 and saw a fig tree by the roadside. He went over to see if it had figs on it, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, "May it never bear fruit again!" Immediately the fig tree withered away.
The fig tree was pure appearance, but no fruit, like many people who maintain an appearance of godliness, but in deed deny it (2 Timothy 3:5-7).
Revelation 3: 17 You say, "I am rich, I have everything I want, I need nothing!". And you do not realize that you are unhappy and miserable; you are poor, blind and naked. 18 So I advise you to buy gold from me-a gold purified by fire-and then you will be rich. Buy also white garments from me, so that you will not be ashamed of your nakedness, and buy ointment for your eyes, so that you may see. 19 I correct and discipline all whom I love. Therefore be diligent and repent of your indifference.
I close with this: The lie will always be exposed and shame will be upon the liar, just as the innocent will be exalted when the truth is known, on the other hand, we must remember that the lie comes from the devil and he who practices it will enjoy the same fate as he who promotes it. If you have said, say or intend to say a false testimony, you are in time to correct. Do not expect to suffer the ready payment for the liar that is nothing but the wrath of the Creator, even if you attend a place where you know that they preach an adulterated gospel, run from there because both who teaches the lie and who receives it knowing that it is a lie, are under curse.
