My reflections on the teachings by bro Eli on 9/11/2023 mass indoctrination. God bless you as you ead through

Pray, and ask God for your need. Don't digress in your prayers. Go straight to the point and ask him. Let's see how his disciples prayed after he ascended to heaven

Act 1:24Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen

When Jesus left his disciples after his resurrection, they (the remaining eleven) needed a replacement for Judas. Judas after realizing what he did committed suicide by hanging himself, so his space was open. The apostles gathered and prayed based on what they needed at that particular time. Prayer is asking for what we need

Philippians4:6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God

The desciples needed one person to join them and before them were two. To know the right person to pick, they tabled it before God specifically, and when they cast the lot, it fell on whom God chose for them. If we follow his words, we must believe that anything we ask for is granted

We should always maintain line of communication with God. Some people don't remember him this days. They only pray when they need him. We should not wait till we have problems before we realize that there's God somewhere who is always ready to listen to the prayers of the righteous

2 Timothy 1:3I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day

This scripture shows that we must always remember God constantly. We must pray everyday. We must talk to God in the morning and night. Pray without season means, when we wake up in the morning, we acknowledge God in our prayers, and the same at night before sleeping

How can we know that our prayers are answered?

When we are calling on upon God, our heart must be pure, and not filthy

2 Timothy 2:22Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart

Matthew 15:19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone

Run from evil. If anyone praying has an evil heart, God will not listen. Praying day and night with a heart full of evil is in vain. Our heart must be far from offense. Evil thoughts come from the heart. The bible also says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful, and desperately wicked, that only God knows it

1 peter 3:7Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers

Also, a man must not mistreat his wife. He must not beat her, yell at her, or make her feel sad by insulting her, for God is against such. Going against what the Bible says in the above scripture can make our prayers to be hindered. God listens to a man who has a pure heart. Once you are baptized and your sins are forgotten, you can call on the name of God. If we humble ourselves and keep away from sins, he will answer us and listen to our supplications

The word of God must dwell in us

We should put the word of God in our heart

John 15:3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. [4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me

John 17:17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth

As we can see in the Bible that God wants us to keep his words in our heart. It should abide in us. When we have his words dwelling inside our heart, we are cleansed, and purified. We should listen to the word of God, keep it, and obey it

Learn to control your tongue

1 peter 3:10For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech

James 3:8But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison

James 5:12Above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your 'yes' be yes and your 'no' be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation

One thing we must also learn is how to control our tongue. We should refrain our tongue from evil. Out of the heart comes good and evil. The tongue is prone to many talks, and therefore cannot be tamed like the way man tames animals. So we should be careful of what proceeds from our mouth

Man must also not swear. We must be truthful in our communication. Our "yes" should be true and our "no" should be affirmative. We should always speak as if we don't know tomorrow. We must have a word of honour, and be faithful to agreement. We must not be deceptive. If we don't follow all these, it can be a hindrance to our prayer. A good heart and a good tongue makes us his elect

If there's a God we can call upon, he will not forsake us. Knowing how to pray is our refuge in life. Our entire being should be in conformity with the will of God. Our tongue must not be set on fire by hell

Matthew 12:36But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37:For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned

We would give account of every evil speaking on the judgment day. The name of God should not be used in vain, and his name must not be used in our jokes. Glory be to God for his words. May it dwell and abide with us
