The Apostle Paul taught how the scripture bless our lives in 2Timothy 3:16-17 says All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God maybe perfect, thoroughly furnished unto Good works
In the Book of james 1: 5 says if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God who giveth generously to all without finding fault and it will be given unto you..
Lastly in Acts 8: 32-35 Phillip met a chief official of queen of Ethiopia a centurion who was reading a scroll of isaiah but did not understand it, when phillip ask him if he understands what he was reading he said how can he when he does not have a teacher to explain it to him, thats when phillip joi ed him and began to explain the scripture of isaiah 53:7-8 to him....
I had to highlight some of these passages so that we understand the three dimensions of underdtanding scriptures, first Bro Eli explained in vividly clear in his teachings that to better understand Gods word we need to have the spirit of God in us, because we cannot understand the scriptures with our own human understanding, it is now true with what the bible says in 2Timothy 3:16-17 telling us that the bible in itself was not written by the mare wisdom of men but was inspired by the holyspirit coming upon them to write them, so it will also take the holyspirit of God to make us understand it better, cause they are mysteries beyond our human comprehension, looking at it i'd say its the kind of encoding and decoding of biblical mysteries by the holyspirit of God in us.
It gone beyond us to decipher the coding we need the spirit of God in us to do so, thats were my second scripture comes in, james 1:5 saying if any man lacks wisdom let him ask of God who will give him generously without finding fault, the wisdom here is not about the circular kind of wisdom, the one that is taught in school no, this is the God kind of wisdom that is from him, this wisdom will guide us into understanding the scriptures better...
One time a friend of mine asked me how i hear from God and my reply was i hear God more from the scriptures, whenever i read the bible, i hear God speak to me, i get revelations an insight of what i'm reading, its like someone explaining what i'm reading to me, right there i get a clearer picture of what i'm reading and it makes sense to me, so as a believer understanding the bible is one of the major ways we hear from God, of course it is the word of God, his own word documented so that it becomes a proof, an evidence for us that this and that happens, thats why the bible is divided into two halves Called Testament.
Bro Eli gave a simplified teachings about this just like the centurion who was reading the bible but did not understand it, it was phillip who was led by the spirit of God to go an explain the scripture to him, we also need to go close to our pastors, teachers evangelist for them to explain more to us because they have spend years decoding these mysterious word of God and had being guided by the spirit of God to understand the scripture better than most of us.
