Welcome to our second edition of JamPlus:Month in Review where we be look at news items for interesting stories from Jamaica and the Caribbean.
This month we are looking into highlights of the ISSA/Grace Athletic Championship:
If you are Jamaican, a fan of track and field or a US College Scout, you would know that the fastest runners past, present and future come out of Jamaica's High School Boys and Girls Championships. The event is held every year at the National Stadium in Kingston Jamaica. This year it was held from March 28 to April 1.
Hydel took home the girls title and Kingston College won the boys for the 34th time. One highlight of the event was high schooler Bouwahjgie Nkrumie's personal best and championship record of 9.99 seconds in the men's 100m event. The first sub 10 time in the event's history. You may recall that the current world record now stands at 9.58 seconds .
Another highlight was Alana Reid's 10.92 seconds record for the girls 100m.
The future looks bright for Jamaican track and field.
