On the third day, we all decided to visit the stadium and War Memorial in Dharamshala while staying in McLeod Ganj. The distance from Dalhousie to Dharamshala is about 117 km, so we set off after having tea at 8 AM. The journey was filled with beautiful valleys, and it took us about three and a half hours to reach Dharamshala. Compared to Dalhousie, Dharamshala was warmer, and we could feel the heat.

When we arrived at the stadium, my nephew was over the moon with excitement. let me tell you, it was awesome! We bought our tickets and headed over, super excited to see the place. The atmosphere there is something else – the mountains in the backdrop make it look so stunning. We sat in the pavilion and clicked lots of photos, even though the stadium was quite crowded. We spent around an hour and a half there. My husband and nephew decided they would definitely come back to watch a cricket match here someday. This stadium is the highest cricket stadium in India, which makes it even more special.

After enjoying the stadium, we didn't stop there. We went to see the War Memorial too. It was a different vibe altogether, very calm and reflective. The memorial really made us appreciate the sacrifices of our soldiers.
Due to the intense heat, we couldn't stay at the War Memorial for long. So, we headed towards McLeod Ganj, which is 11 km uphill from Dharamshala. As soon as we saw the steep road to McLeod Ganj, we all got a bit scared. But our driver was very skilled and drove as if it was a flat road. Finally, we safely reached our hotel. The area was very crowded, so it was good that we had booked our hotel in advance.
There is another way to reach McLeod Ganj from Dharamshala, which is by a skyway. However, we had booked our car from Chandigarh, so we came by car.

After having tea and snacks, we took a rest at the hotel. In the evening, we explored the entire market on foot and did some shopping. Both the kids and we had a great time. Walking around here is a unique experience. We had dinner outside and enjoyed the local food. When we got back to the hotel, we were so tired that we fell asleep quickly. The day was packed with fun and adventure, and we slept soundly, ready for the next day's activities.
I visited the Dalai Lama temple in McLeod Ganj, hoping to meet the Dalai Lama, only to find out he was out of town. The atmosphere there was deeply serene, infused with a profound sense of tranquility. The temple radiated a peaceful ambiance, where prayer flags gently fluttered in the breeze and the lingering scent of incense added to the spiritual aura. It was a place where one could truly feel a profound connection to spirituality and find solace amidst the stunning backdrop of the Himalayas.
Historically, the Dalai Lama Temple, formally known as the Tsuglagkhang Complex, stands as a vital repository of Tibetan culture. Constructed in 1959 following the exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama from Tibet, it holds significant religious and cultural importance. Today, it serves as both the spiritual heart and the political center of the Tibetan community in exile.
After visiting the Dalai Lama temple, our plan was to go to Naddi View Point and Bhagsu Falls. However, our plan got ruined because of heavy traffic jams, and no taxi driver was willing to take us. Suddenly, there was a lot of crowd in McLeod Ganj, which prevented us from visiting those two places. Since our plan completely failed, we decided to leave our hotel and plan to come back to McLeod Ganj again.
