A Weekend Adventure in Puigcerdà - Spain

in #hive-1844376 months ago

Hello, dear travelers. Today, I will tell you about our visit to a small town near France. This place is located close to the Pyrenees Mountains. The name of the town is Puigcerdà.

We spent a weekend at the Villa Palita hotel here in March. We went to the spa, got massages and ate at local restaurants. When we visited, the weather here was quite chilly, just 5 degrees and we were expecting snow and rain. Fortunately it didn't rain during our trip, but there was no sun either. This is the main building of our hotel. We stayed in room 103. First I want to start my post with the journey that brought us here.

After arriving in the town we parked our car. There were electric charging stations here, very convenient. The parking lot was spacious and they immediately connected our car to the charger. The parking fee here was 12 Euros. Then we settled into our room. We stayed on the ground floor. Right after entering there was a large bed. Inside there was a TV and a minibar. The minibar was not included in the price, so if you didn't bring your snacks, you would have to pay for them. There was a bathroom with hand soaps, a brush, towels, slippers and a hairdryer, in short, everything needed.

The hotel was next to a park with a beautiful view of a lake and the mountains. Everything looked very nice. After resting for a bit, we went to eat. They told us that there was a standard menu here. The menu of the day was 17 Euros and 80 cents. It was a very nice restaurant, we had lunch here and we paid 20 Euros and 30 cents per person.

After lunch we went to the spa center and got massages. The massage prices were around 77 Euros per person.

Then we went for a walk around the lake. While wandering on the first floors, I noticed dogs almost everywhere. Some were barking, while others were just watching. This was a place with a high density of dogs.

We had a nice walk and fed the swans. The French border is only one kilometer away from the town. This town is 160 km away from Barcelona and it took us two hours to get here.

We watched the local birds. There were some very cute ducks. They didn't look like mandarin ducks, they seemed to be a different species.

The weather was a bit gray. It would have been more colorful if the sun had been out. If you come here you can walk along the lake and enjoy nature. You can taste local foods, take a trip to France and there are ski resorts nearby.

I wanted to provide some information about our stay at the hotel. A double room at the four-star Villa Paulita, including breakfast, cost 210 Euros. We added 12 Euros for parking and 77 Euros for the massage. The only bonus the hotel offers is one hour of free spa access for each guest if you book directly through the hotel's website or by phone.

When we arrived the weather was cold, around 3 degrees Celsius and my hands were almost frozen. Therefore we wanted to finish the tour and return to our hotel. We planned to warm up a bit in the Turkish bath or the dry sauna.

A few words about the spa: don't expect anything extraordinary or fantastic. There is a small pool, but the saddest thing was the cold water. Most visitors were sitting in the small jacuzzi; almost no one was in the pool. There are two steam rooms and I liked both. My friend got an anti-stress massage before the spa. The massage was quite good, using different oils, including face and head massages. Due to the hotel's four-star status, the price was 77 Euros.

In the evening we went out. We walked around the town a bit, then went to an Argentine restaurant called Pampa. We had steak for dinner, which was very delicious. We paid a total of 55 Euros and the menu prices did not include tax, so you pay extra for the tax.

It's important to note that the restaurant is outside the city and our hotel is also outside the city, but they are on opposite sides. When we returned to the hotel, we had to climb a rather steep hill.

That's all I have to tell about our trip to Puigcerdà. See you on our next trips.
