let me enter with... a hatch.
I am in Saeby, a tiny town in the north of Denmark. The town celebrates its 500th anniversary of getting market rights.
Hatches in the historic old town proudly announce that Saeby has rights to have markets. "købstad" in the caption means "market town". We take the presence of markets for granted, but centuries ago it was a coveted privilege that many towns sought, but not all were granted (or in some cases the granted rights were later withdrawn).
The bottom part of the caption merely states the obvious - "byen ved havet" means
"city by the sea"
The graphics depicts the town's landmark, situated in the marina. See below the life version of "maid from the sea"
Finally, if you go to my original @actifit report card report card, you will see a white church, which is also depicted on the hatch.
