Another Experience Travelling From Lagos To Onitsha

in #hive-1844374 months ago

Hello beautiful people! Welcome back to my space. It feels so good to be able to get a post out once again.

The past few weeks have been quite hectic for me. This period is supposed to be a time of rest for me, considering that schools are on holiday right now. But then, do teachers really have holidays, when we try to make the most of the vacation for extra income activities, hehehe.

As I type away on my phone, I am on my way from Lagos to Onitsha. Yes, another long road trip for me this year.

It is a journey that has been planned since I got back to Lagos last May, and I still have a few more to make before the end of the year.

Apart from the stress of being on the road for long hours, I am actually happy that I am making this journey. If not for anything, I will have the opportunity to rest for a few days at home with my mother.

It has been raining heavily, and because of the bad roads traffic has been very heavy.

Even with the high cost of fuel which has in turn made the cost of transportation to become too high, a lot of people are on the road travelling. This may be because the reason for them to travel is not something they can just push aside.

We left the motor park this morning at about 8am this morning, one hour behind the scheduled departure time, and all things being equal I should arrive my final destination before 6pm. From the way things have been going since we took off, I doubt if that will eventually happen.

Long Pause....

A lot has happened since I expressed my doubts above. We had to change vehicles twice because when we got to Agbor, the driver of the first one decided to hand over his passengers to the driver of another bus, which also started overheating before we even went far.

Getting down in the rain, the only option was for me to stop another vehicle heading to Asaba, the capital of Delta State. Moreover, at 6pm it would be too risky to continue heading to Onitsha for Security reasons. Some other passengers decided to continue their journey as they were still going as far as Enugu. I pray they get to their destinations safely.

I eventually got a hotel where I paid for a room to spend the night. The cheapest room in this hotel, Orchid Hotels Asaba, cost 30,000 $NGN. Perhaps luck was on my side as I eventually paid 25k NGN promo price instead of 30k.

I ordered dinner which cost me another 8,000 $NGN. When you see the photo below, don't tell me the food is too much because that is just like my only meal for the day, hehehe 😜.

I eventually didn't finish the food because the food didn't allow me to finish it, lol.

I will be continuing my journey to my destination when the environmental sanitation ends at 10am Saturday morning.

Thank you for reading. The images in this post are mine.

I can tell that you are obviously at your destination right now. Thank God!
All these changing from one vehicle to the other is one thing I dislike about traveling. It's tiring and quite risky, if the vehicle decides to break down at a dangerous location.

When you see the photo below, don't tell me the food is too much because that is just like my only meal for the day, hehehe 😜.

Maybe it's just the camera but the food looks small. I'm very surprised you didn't finish it. Looking at the price of that meal, I can't help but wonder where we are heading to, in this country of ours.

Babe, I thank God for journey mercies. That experience was not funny at all, but God took me safely to my destination.

I guess the reason I couldn't finish that quantity of eba was because it was long past my usual dinner time, and I was just forcing myself to get something into my tummy, hehehe.

The food was actually expensive, but I had no other option. God will help us in this country.

Thank you so much for your visit. I appreciate you.

praying for your safety on your journey <3

Thank you so very much.
