In one of the societal review I was having with my friend, a discussion about families came up and we got to dig really deep about the importance of competent and responsible male figures in the well-being of a family. I enjoy discussions like that and wish a lot more of those would be discussed openly for the sake of our society.
We dug really deep into the rabbit hole in that discussion and we were able to reach a point where it became fairly obvious that our society would be so much better if there are really decent male figures in families and the society at large.
As someone that's born into a nuclear family where my parents have been doing their best to play their parental role to the best of their ability, I genuinely appreciate them for all the sacrifice they made in order to give us the nurturing we experienced. Both of my parents are very serious about discipline and my Dad tends to be quite extreme in that regard.
I can't say that I have a perfect Dad. He isn't perfect as a human or a Dad and we don't have a very chummy father-son relationship.
I didn't particularly enjoy being around him while growing up and it still feels awkward to be in a long conversation with him, whether on air or physically. But, I genuinely respect him for every lesson I learned from him. I didn't just learn about the things I need to do. I also learned of the things I would never want to do as a human, husband and father.
I just don't have any hate towards my Dad. Instead, I want to be the best I can be in my own journey as a son, brother, husband and father.
That being said, today is officially marked worldwide as Father's Day Celebration and I'm taking this opportunity to give a thumbs up to all amazing fathers and paternal figures out there. I wish more men would be open to teach their boys what it means to be a man. That would be such an interesting experience which could have a really positive ripple effect.
Before I wrap this up, I will extend a shout-out to a male role model who I hold in high regards.
That person is Jordan B. Peterson, who self describes himself on his YouTube Channel as "A Canadian Professor of Psychology, Clinical Psychologist, YouTube Personality, Best selling author and host of The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast".
Jordan Peterson is a critical thinker and a very articulate wordsmith who gained huge influence on the internet when he stood up against a bill that was about to be signed into Law by the Canadian Legislation. He's quite outspoken about what he stands for and he has been in a bunch of interviews with people from Media houses who were only interested in twisting his words to bait him to a gotcha moment.
Here's one of such videos for reference;
I also know a lot about Jordan's family life and his relationship with his wife and kids. I fancy the work he did in that regard in addition to the level of sacrifice he has made in order to be who he is in this day and time. The man is a very good influence and he's one of the male role models who I have a genuine appreciation for the message he's spreading all over the world.
Happy Father's Day to all Gents.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
