Big thanks to @ksteem for setting up a brand new drone community. It's about time we made a push to support this unique form of photography and videography, so bravo to @ksteem for making this happen.
So, to begin my interactions with the #drone community I would like to offer up the fruits of my most recent project...
...Tilt-Shift Photography
I first came across this technique via some random youtube suggestion which led me to the Little Big World profile. Rather than still pictures, this awesome creator actually manages to produce videos using the tilt-shift technique, and if you haven't seen their work before I'd strongly recommend you visit their channel (But not before reading this post, of course 😉).
Being that you require special lenses to create these images, I never thought it was possible to do this using a drone. That was until a few weeks ago when I stumbled across a tutorial that explained how Tilt-shift photography can be achieved, post-shoot, in the editing room. Eureka!
The process of creating these images was surprisingly simple and I'd recommend that anyone with a drone give it a try. In fact, anyone who has any landscape photographs should consider playing around with this technique as the process seems quite versatile.
Armed with childish excitement in the knowledge I could create these images using my drone, I set off to the local cricket ground with a skip in my step. After sending my Mavic Pro 2 up into the sky and taking the pictures I needed, I rushed home and got to work downloading the software required and putting it to good work. It took around 30-minutes to edit my images and although I know I can do better I was still very pleased with the results, especially considering it was my first try.
Pretty cute, right? And like many discoveries in the world of photography, it inspires you to do more. And oh boy, will I be doing more! My head is already filled with ideas of where to shoot more pics and what will produce the best images. So expect plenty more from me in the future and hopefully, I'll be inspiring you to have a go yourselves.
