It was a very exciting drone flight. Connection was lost right at the time when the drone was flying over the waters of the Indian Ocean, and I was standing on a path among bushes and trees 500 meters from the shore. And what was it all for? :) For the sake of the opportunity to photograph an interesting place from a height, of course! And it would be difficult to do without a drone.
In the morning, shortly before that, we visited Uluwatu Beach. It is located on the island of Bali, Indonesia, and you can see it in the photo above: this is a secluded place between two protruding rocks, on the one of which there is the area of a nearby cafe with a pool and a lawn. If you look closely, you can see that the space between rocks deepens, going under the rock and forming a cave. This cave is through, people go down the stairs there past the cafes with an excellent view of the beach and ocean waves. I read that this is a great place for surfers because of the big waves, but we did not see them at that time - surfers, of course, but the waves were really impressive. The view from inside and the feel of the beach right in the cave is amazing, as is the view from the cafe from above. Definitely a place worth visiting.
We came there to look at this unusual place and swim. And besides, I wanted to fly there with a drone. But, as you can see from the photo, it was impossible to go anywhere to the side: the exit from the beach-cave was right into the waves, all the places on the rock were occupied by cafes and shops, besides, there were a lot of people around whom the drone could disturb. Therefore, I did not dare to launch the drone from there, but instead we drove away and found a secluded place near the long bridge over the gorge, which can be seen in the photo.
The flight range, of course, was not so great, less than a kilometer, but when the drone began to descend lower to the ocean, the connection was lost and I was a little scared — I really did not want to lose the second drone a few months after the death of the first. I hope I will somehow tell that story, but there will be no photos to illustrate it :)
So, I didn't manage to take closer photos of the beach and the cave, besides, the connection between the remote control and the drone would have been even more hampered by the rocks between us, so I had to urgently return the drone to me. But still, the views of the green, steep coast of the island turned out to be wonderful! This is what I like about drone photography — the opportunity to look at the world from an unexpected angle, to see it from a height and on a large scale.
