This week I want to go back about 13 years ago when I helped organise a 15th birthday party for my cousin. For those of you who don't know, it is part of the Latin American culture to celebrate a party in a special way when young girls turn 15, in fact one of these days I will show you my own party 😅 For this occasion I suggested to my cousin and my aunt that we use Hollywood and movies as a theme, so we hired an agency and they took care of the decoration, but I asked for three elements that for me could not be missing, firstly a red carpet (in the best style of the oscars) secondly and precisely at the end of this carpet I wanted to place a couple of giant replicas of the most coveted awards in the world of cinema (the oscars) and finally a special spot that simulated a space for interviews.
Esta semana quiero remontarme unos 13 años atrás cuando ayudé a organizar una fiesta de 15 años para mi prima. Para los que no lo saben, es parte de la cultura latinoamericana celebrar una fiesta de forma especial cuando las jovencitas cumplen 15 años, de hecho un día de estos les mostraré mi propia fiesta 😅 Para esta ocasión yo le sugerí a mi prima y a mi tía que usáramos como tema Hollywood y las películas, así que contratamos una agencia y ellos se encargaron de la decoración, pero yo solicité tres elementos que para mi no podían faltar, en primer lugar una alfombra roja (al mejor estilo de la de los premios oscars) en segundo lugar y precisamente al final de esta alfombra yo quería que ubicaran un par de replicas gigantes de los premios más codiciados del mundo del cine (los oscars) y por último un spot especial que simulara un espacio para entrevistas.
There I am dancing with my sister @Bethyjade, we really had a great time that night, I don't like dancing very much but I really couldn't help it that night, the atmosphere was really fun.
Ahí estoy bailando con mi hermana @Bethyjade, de verdad la pasamos muy bien esa noche, a mi no me gusta mucho bailar pero de verdad que esa noche no pude evitarlo, el ambiente estaba muy divertido.
Here I am with my best friend who is like my sister, I met her shortly before I entered university and since then she has become my confidant, friend and second sister.
Aquí estoy con mi mejor amiga la cual es como mi hermana, la conocí poco antes de entrar a la universidad y desde entonces se convirtió en mi confidente, amiga y mi segunda hermana.
That's my cousin Alejandro who is also like our brother and always came home for Christmas, summer or Easter holidays, so we couldn't let him miss this party.
Ese es mi primo Alejandro quien también es como nuestro hermano y siempre venía a casa a pasar vacaciones navidad, verano o Semana Santa, así que no podíamos permitir que se perdiera esta fiesta.
Of course I couldn't miss a photo with the protagonist of the night, that is, my cousin, she looked beautiful, I loved her dress and the elements she used as ornaments, especially the tiara.
Desde luego no podía faltar una fotografía con la protagonista de la noche, es decir, mi prima, ella estaba preciosa, yo amaba su vestido y los elementos que usó como adorno, sobre todo la diadema.
One of the things we were most excited to see was this life-size photograph of my cousin, it was not easy to get it, I remember that my aunt and I visited several places where they could do that job and only one said they could do it, so my cousin went to the photo shoot, chose the right one and then they transformed it into a life-size figure. At the party everyone wanted to pose with her.
Una de las cosas que más nos entusiasmó ver fue esta fotografía a tamaño real de mi prima, no fue fácil conseguirla, recuerdo que mi tía y yo recorrimos varios lugares donde pudieran hacer ese trabajo y solo en uno dijeron que podían hacerlo, así que mi prima fue a la sesión fotográfica, escogió la indicada y posteriormente la transformaron en una figura de tamaño real. En la fiesta todos querían posar junto a ella.
Here I am with the giant replicas of the Oscars, they were a resounding success because everyone liked them, had their pictures taken there and thought it was very glamorous in addition to the red carpet that served as a prelude to the party room.
Aquí estoy con las réplicas gigantes de los premios oscars, fueron un rotundo éxito porque a todo el mundo les gustó, se tomaron fotografías allí y opinaron que era algo muy glamoroso además de la alfombra roja que servía de antesala al salón de fiestas.
And this was the spot for pictures and interviews, the person who was in charge of videotaping the whole party interviewed all the guests in this area, they told how they met my cousin, gave her beautiful birthday wishes and talked about the party, how much they enjoyed it and how much fun they had. Ahhh but something I forgot to mention is that I had the idea that the tables were identified not with numbers but with famous movies like Harry Potter, Narnia, Spider Man, etc, it's a pity I didn't take pictures of the tables.
Y este era el spot para fotografías y entrevistas, la persona que se encargó de grabar en video toda la fiesta entrevistó a todos los invitados en esta zona, ellos contaron como conocieron a mi prima, le dieron hermosos deseos de cumpleaños y hablaron de la fiestas, de lo mucho que les gustó y cuanto se divirtieron. Ahhh pero algo que olvidé mencionar es que yo tuve la idea de que las mesas estuviesen identificadas no con números sino con películas famosas como Harry Potter, Narnia, Spider Man, etc, es una lástima que yo no haya tomado fotografías de las mesas.
