It was a gloomy day. A light rain was falling throughout the afternoon. Everything around me looked washed out and tired, and I felt the same way.
At 2 PM I went to visit a friend who lives in an apartment on the second flora of a house situated in the center of the oldest part of town, very close to the main square of Medulin.
In this opening photograph, you can see some other houses that surround the square, and you can see them from an angle that I never presented here on Hive.
Architecture looks great when seen from an elevated point of view.
Whenever visiting someone who lives on the first floor or higher here in Medulin, I don't miss an opportunity to get a shot or two from the balcony or through the windows.
While we were leisurely chatting to chase the gloomy atmosphere away, a football match was playing on the impressively large screen of his TV.
I haven't seen a TV this big for quite some time.
Now, you may think that we were two dudes who love football.
Wrong. I don't care much about sports in general, he isn't into football at all.
I mean, he doesn't care about the art or beauty of football as a sport, but he is very passionate when it comes to betting.
I don't care about sports betting either but I do get easily excited when I see someone excited about the potential gain.
The football game, frozen in time, that you see in the above photograph was one of the eleven matches he was betting on.
And his team was winning.
I don't remember what teams were playing, but I'm pretty sure that they were from England.
The friend I'm talking about will probably visit me tomorrow and then I'll know if he won 600 Euro.
He has an air condition, and as you can see in this photograph, the temperature was 25 degrees Celsius.
Almost a burning hell when compared to the place where I live.
I don't use heating. At all. Usually, winter temperatures here are around 10 degrees Celsius, but even when they drop below zero - I don't use any kind of heat in the house.
I love the cold air. And if is too cold at night, I sleep like a homeless person in my bed; in all the daytime clothes complete with the thick winter coat. The windows are always open for the fresh air to enter and for the cats to go in and out as they wish. I like it that way. The heating makes me dizzy in a pretty uncomfortable way.
The only warmth I enjoy daily is provided by long, hot showers. They make me feel good and strong.
Here you can take a look from the balcony of my friend's apartment. You can see the neighboring rooftops and the calm sea in the sheltered bay that resembles a lake.
Even the view from his bathroom is quite classy. The tourists appreciate the view very much when they rent the apartment in summer. During the summer, my friend lives like a mouse in a very small room on the ground floor. That room resembles those places that are usually used to store brooms and other cleaning stuff.
And that's it. Hope you enjoyed this slice of mundane, everyday life. As always here on Hive, the photographs are my work.
