For the first time I had the opportunity to manage a cultural event directly and today I would like to share my experience behind all this. For more than a month now they contacted me to create a kind of cultural space in a cafeteria, and thus give life to that place while the artists and I gained in visibility. I instantly accepted because what could possibly go wrong?
Por primera vez tuve la oportunidad de gestionar un evento cultural directamente y el día de hoy quisiera compartirles mi experiencia detrás de todo esto. Desde hace ya más de un mes contactaron conmigo para generar una clase de espacio cultural en una cafetería, y así darle vida a ese lugar mientras los artistas y yo ganábamos en visibilidad. Al instante acepté porque ¿qué podría salir mal?
My idea together with @yoelcipri was the following: to use verse as the central axis of the manifestations of rap, the trova and poetry itself. This base turned out great for us and we had a lot of fun creating it. From here we start with the first shocks. The only thing we had to do was establish communication with all the entities that needed to be incorporated into the project. Until now I had not known how difficult the art of communicating could become...
Mi idea junto con @yoelcipri fue la siguiente: usar al verso como eje central de las manifestaciones del rap, la trova y la propia poesía. Esta base nos fue genial y nos divertimos mucho creándola. A partir de aquí comenzamos con los primeros choques. Lo único que tuvimos que hacer fue establecer la comunicación con todas las entidades wue debían incorporarse al proyecto. Hasta ahora no había conocido cuán difícil podía volverse el arte de comunicar...

Luckily we got through that stage and set a date for the event. We arrived at the venue early, placed the flag of our Hermanos Sáiz Association and saw that the first people began to approach. At the last minute there were two more setbacks: there was a blackout and the troubadour we invited canceled due to personal problems. On the verge of nerves we were about to cancel the event. And then?
Por suerte superamos esa etapa y fijamos una fecha para el evento. Llegamos temprano al local, colocamos la bandera de nuestra Asociación Hermanos Sáiz y vimos que las primeras personas comenzaron a acercarse. A última hora se presentaron dos contratiempos más: hubo un apagón y el trovador que invitamos canceló debido a problemas personales. Al borde de los nervios estuvimos a punto de cancelar el evento. ¿Y entonces?
At the moment other people arrived, including another troubadour named Armando Hernández who we didn't even expect and who was the one who started the peña. So we could flow with the space, share our art and reach other young people like us.
De momento llegaron otras personas, entre ellas otro trovador llamado Armando Hernández que ni siquiera esperábamos y que fue el que le dió inicio a la peña. Así pudimos fluir con el espacio, compartir nuestro arte y llegarle a otros jóvenes como nosotros.
We also had the honor of having the renowned writer Roberto Fournier sharing with us, who read some of his poems and gave way to the promotion of books. We also read poems from some friends who couldn't attend but sent us their texts anyway.
También tuvimos el honor de tener al reconocido escritor Roberto Fournier compartiendo junto a nosotros, quien leyó algunos de sus poemas y dio paso a la promoción de libros. Además leímos poemas de algunos amigos que no pudieron asistir pero de todas maneras nos enviaron sus textos.
Due to the lack of electricity, Cipriano had to make an overexertion and rap a cappella, without the beats in which we usually hear him (and still he shone).
Debido a la falta de electricidad, Cipriano tuvo que hacer un sobreesfuerzo y rapear a cappella, sin los beats en los que acostumbramos a escucharlo (y aún así brilló).
I confess that for someone like me, who strives to make everything come out with the highest possible quality, managing this event was something quite stressful until the last moment. We were lucky enough to keep pushing until the last moment and we also had the public's liking, so we fulfilled our fundamental objective.
Confieso que para alguien como yo, que me esfuerzo porque todo salga con la mayor calidad posible, gestionar este evento fue algo bastante estresante hasta último momento. Tuvimos la suerte de seguir empujando hasta el último momento y contamos además con el agrado del público, así que cumplimos nuestro objetivo fundamental.
