Hello friends and Hivers. How are all of you? I feel I have finally kicked the cold I had. No feeling of sickness but I am feeling tired and kind of lazy as of late. So let me share with you my last few days.
Let me start with Wednesday. I was not super busy at work during the day. The night included working an offload/upload of a cargo aircraft, C-17 Globemaster. An easy task, take one pallet off temporarily and upload it back on with two additional pallets.
Sorry not many pictures and there is a reason for that. It was coming in with human remains recovered by DPAA (Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.) The remains were from a site overseas which are potentially from WW II (World War II). There is a laboratory here and the remains will be tested to see if any DNA matches can be made to the MIA (Missing In Action) database.
These type of missions draw a pretty big crowd. A ceremony is performed for the flag draped transfer cases when they are offload from the aircraft. Asides from those involved with conducting the ceremony others are usually in attendance. This includes protocol of higher ranking officials, sometimes local media and occasionally politicians. All together there were about 50 people either working or just there to observe. So due to respect and the number of people involved I didn't take additional photographs.
Our shop involvement is to get cargo offloaded from the aircraft so there's a clear path for the offload of the transfer cases. This time we had two pallets to add onto the aircraft. We had to wait until after the ceremony was done to do this. A unique mission that I work a few times each year. I will tell you this mission really puts things into perspective for all who currently serve or have served.
Thursday I went to work than stayed at home for the rest of the evening. I made a simple dinner which was ringed bologna, broccoli, and some homemade macaroni & cheese. After dinner I just chilled watching some television.
It was an hour or so later my sweet tooth 🦷 got the best of me. I decided to make a shake with my individual blend jet. All that was needed was some double berry cheesecake ice cream, milk, and two ice cubes. I placed the blended mixture into a glass cup and enjoyed my drinkable cold treat.
My Friday included watching my son playing in another high school basketball game. I took a few shots of him on the court. The first one is on the opening tip followed by him guarding an inbound pass and last one is him in his defensive position waiting on the opponent to bring up the ball.
How did he do? Just like he has done every game to this point so far. He ended up scoring 18 points in about 18 minutes of playing time. His team jumped out to early lead, 24-3 which lead to the bench players getting much playing time through out the game. He did not play in the fourth quarter as his team had a huge lead at that point. He shot efficient tonight. He was 6 for 6 at the free throw line and was 2 of 4 from behind the arc for three point shots.
After the game, the team was invited to go out and get pizza. Really cool as one of the big sponsors for the team took on the bill. Not just any pizza joint it was at one of the best restaurants for it in town.
I found out the next day a local college coach was in attendance. His coach told my son after the Saturday morning practice. The good thing is that college coach is coming back next Friday for there next home game and wants to talk to my son after that game 😊 If he keeps up his level of play in which I think he will this will probably become a thing for him. Oh I will stop flexing on him, just a super proud Father!!
Saturday was a cold windy day. We got some snow flurries but nothing accumulated on the ground. My morning didn't contain anything worth mentioning just had to drop off and than pick up my son from basketball practice. I was beat I went to bed the night before around 11:00 p.m. and woke up at 2:00 a.m. and wasn't able to get back to sleep. Probably had much to do with eating late the night before.
Around 12:30 I fell asleep in my recliner while watching T.V. I napped until about 2:30 p.m. After that I watched the only College Football on, Army Vs Navy. Brain is foggy I may have watched that game before napping as well 😂 It was an interesting game that came down to a goal line stance with Army winning.
After dinner I watched the NBA in-season tournament championship between the Los Angelos Lakers and the Indiana Pacers. I fell asleep at some point (8:00 to 8:30 p.m.??) and woke up in my recliner at about 5:00 a.m. I found out via ESPN that the Lakers won.
Well here we are,it's Sunday. I think I'm going to break my lazy demeanor and do some delivery driving today. It's been awhile since I have done that. Oh got date with the shower and than go get out! So this is all I have for you on this blog.
Take care, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your day. Thanks for reading and your support. I really appreciate it! Until next time!
