¡Hola Chicos!
Esta semana tuvimos muchos problemas con la electricidad. Los días viernes y sábado se nos fue 6 horas por la mañana y esto entorpeció para que pudiera dar mi clase como todos los sábados.
Así que tocó posponerla para el día domingo a las 4 de la tarde. Al llegar no habían llegado ninguno de los niños. Pensaba que iban a asistir, a pesar de que ya habían confirmado que si podían a la hora fijada.
Al cabo de unos minutos aparecieron solo dos de ellos, y como parecía que no iba a llegar más nadie inicié la clase.

This week we had a lot of problems with electricity. On Friday and Saturday it went out 6 hours in the morning and this hindered me to teach my class like every Saturday.
So I had to postpone it to Sunday at 4 pm. When I arrived, none of the children had arrived. I thought they were going to attend, even though they had already confirmed that they could attend at the scheduled time.
After a few minutes only two of them showed up, and as it seemed that no one else was going to show up, I started the class.
Para esta clase el plan era explicarle a los niños lo que eran las formas orgánica, mostrarle ejemplos y que luego ellos en una hoja hicieran el borrador de lo que sería un diseño que plasmarían en una de las paredes de la academia.
La idea era observar bien lo que podían hacer y corregir posibles fallas antes de que lo llevaran al sitio definitivo.
Todos se pusieron manos a la obra y eligieron hacer franjas onduladas. No hicieron las formas que les indiqué, a pesar de que les mostré varios ejemplos.
Igual dejé que desarrollaran las ideas que tenían en mente. Ellos estaban súper concentrados en sus trabajos.
For this class the plan was to explain to the children what organic shapes were, show them examples and then they would make a draft on a sheet of paper of what would be a design that they would put on one of the walls of the academy.
The idea was to take a good look at what they could do and correct possible flaws before they took it to the final site.
They all got to work and chose to make wavy stripes. They did not make the shapes I indicated, even though I showed them several examples.
I still let them develop the ideas they had in mind. They were super focused on their work.
Algo que quise aplicar para esta clase fue pegarles la hoja a la superficie con un poco de cinta para que aprendieran a trabajar en un solo sentido, sin estar dando vueltas a la hoja, como suelen hacer.
Esto fue todo un reto, sobre todo para uno de los niños, que es quien más suele darle vueltas y vueltas a sus trabajos. Por eso me pareció chévere esta dinámica, aunque para el fue un poco frustrante.
One thing I wanted to do for this class was to tape the sheet to the surface with a bit of tape so that they would learn to work in one direction only, without turning the sheet around and around, as they usually do.
This was quite a challenge, especially for one of the children, who is the one who usually turns his work around and around the most. That's why I thought this dynamic was cool, although it was a little frustrating for him.
A pesar de esto los niños lograron avanzar en sus trabajos y poco a poco sus hojas comenzaban a llenarse de color.
Algunos tenían un diseño definido, otros iban trabajando a medida que se les presentaban las situaciones. Por ejemplo la niña mezcló unos colores de pintura y le salió demasiada, así que la mayoría de su hoja estaba pintada en tonos similares.
La clase estuvo llena de muchas risas, sonidos locos y pedacitos de canciones tarareadas por los niños y por mi. Éramos pocos pero los niños se encargaron de no hacer la clase aburrida.
In spite of this, the children managed to advance in their work and little by little their sheets began to fill with color.
Some had a definite design, others were working as situations presented themselves. For example, the girl mixed a few colors of paint and came out with too much, so most of her sheet was painted in similar tones.
The class was filled with lots of laughter, crazy sounds and bits of songs hummed by the children and me. There were only a few of us but the kids took care not to make the class boring.
Los resultados de sus pinturas la verdad no fueron lo esperado. Tenían en mente otra cosa para sus murales, por lo que la próxima clase les llevaré ideas para que ellos solamente tengan que recrearlas. Así obtendremos mejores resultados.
A pesar de eso se logró el objetivo de que disfrutaran la clase y la pasaran bien. Ya luego les cuento que tal nos fue con lo del mural.
The results of their paintings were not really what I expected. They had something else in mind for their murals, so next class I will bring them ideas so that they only have to recreate them. That way we will get better results.
Despite that, the goal of having them enjoy the class and have a good time was achieved. I'll tell you later how the mural went.
