Exciting Experience learning how to swim.

Hello Everyone. Welcome to my Blog.
I hope we're doing great?

I am so excited sharing this experience I got from Monday and yesterday thursday. I will say it was a very terrible and also an exciting experience. Terrible in the essence that at my age I have never known how to swim before. I have never visited a stream, not even a pool before. So when I learnt that there is a course we will be studying for the semester called Swimming, it will be more practical than theory. I was devastated. I kept wondering how I would pass the practical exams when I knew I could not even withstand the sight of water. I have always enjoyed water when i drink from a cup, Sachet and bottle. So I kept imagining myself going to the pool and getting drowned. The fear of it alone made me tell myself I might carry over this particular course because the practical constitutes 60 marks and the theory constitutes 40 marks.

So finally the practical exams started last week Monday and Tuesday but fear would not let me visit the pool anyday. Not until there were strict orders from the lecturer that anyone that fails to show up will automatically fail and carry over the course to year 3. That was when I knew it was serious. So I decided to show up at the swimming pool for practice on Monday. To be honest it was not a nice experience to behold as i happened to start drowning and gulping water from the swimming pool immediately i entered which the life savers had to hurriedly take me out and i was allowed to relax for a while and before i knew it i saw myself determining to enter again because i saw others in there swimming without nothing happening to them.

So I went back again. I joined others to be trained on how to swim but I still could not get it right. So I kept struggling and the lecturer did not score me with the others so those who couldn't swim were asked to retake the exams on thursday. So I said to myself I will have to wait behind and speak to the life guards that also served as our tutors to teach me how to swim so that when I come back for my exams on Thursday I can swim and pass the exams. So I decided to stay back for a section of training so I dedicated the whole monday to the training.

Funny enough when I got back home I could not stand up due to pains. My face started peeling and my hands and feets were going through a whole lot of pain. So I started feeling ill. But on wednesday evening i felt relieved maybe because my mind told me if you don't make it on thursday you will fail so i got relieved from the pains and on thursday which was yesterday very early in the morning there was a heavy downpour and i taught the swimming will be cancelled due to the cold weather but surprisingly i heard the lecturer had arrived as at 7am so i had to hurriedly prepare and went to the pool.

We got started and due to the training I received and also how determined I was never to fail and carry over the course I had to show the lecturer the basic skills I learnt and I was well scored. I got back home happy and relieved even though the pain came back but the only happiness is that I was able to swim and I scored well. That was the most exciting part of my swimming experience. But I have really come to love swimming and I will be visiting the pool once in a while.
