Memories during my high school days flooded in after I passed by Camp Phillips field and witnessed the Del Monte Football Cup 2023. I was so happy seeing how enthusiastic the kids and teenagers playing the game.
How I love Football and I even participated in the Worldcup 2023 in Hive. I must say that joining games made me excited. Win or lose, what matters to me is the experience. Watching players do their best to win the game is a great feeling too.
Nevertheless, it is my nth time witnessing the Del Monte Football Cup not to mention that when I was in High School, my friends were football players who represented my place in the provincial, regional, and even national athletic meets. But now they were already graduates from being varsity teams and now having a good life. Some of them are coaches and mentors to the young ones.
I was supposed to go to Dahilayan when I noticed that the Camp Phillips field was full of people. From a distance, I have seen players and I was not sure what was the event, but when I stopped and get closer to the people, I have seen kids and teenagers playing and competing from different places.
Young enthusiasts from all over the Philippines converged in this breathtaking place to compete in this famous event. Most of them were coming from far places just to compete in the Del Monte Football Cup 2023.
It is good to know that even many decades ago, Del Monte has been committed to organizing and hosting this competition and it always attracts players of all ages. And, this marked another remarkable event for Del Monte for engaging enthusiastic athletes in this kind of culture and how they dwell on the good values that are inherent in sports.
I believe they were school teams from all over the country and seeing them in deep focus of winning the game was indeed so inspiring. And seeing these young enthusiasts made me think that how I wish I grew up sporty, but when I was younger, I was more focused on academics. Still, I did not regret any since I enjoyed my younger years. I was just so inspired to see the happy spirit of the crowd.
Meanwhile, I had the pleasure of taking quick photos at different angles while capturing them on the move and taking selfies as well. I was so happy to witness this big event once more as it stopped when the pandemic struck the country. It stopped for more than three years and I am truly happy that this prestigious event is back.
I was so happy seeing the delightful faces of the crowd. And as I looked at the surroundings, it was full of greenery that blended well with the azure sky, the puffy clouds, and the incredible football players both young and old. Perhaps I am always looking forward to joining and witnessing another Football Cup in my place.
