We got to experience a village fair after ages!
Things change so fast, the countryside doesn't feel like it anymore, it's becoming a megacity day by day. We sometimes miss the good old days, the winter fair, and the colorful fest during the evening. But it doesn't happen very often.
Fortunately, this year, we got to experience a village fair like we used to have 20 years ago. The same types of shops, food stalls, and everything else existed. It felt like we went back in time.
Let me share it with you.
This was the Venue.
It was originally an Islamic conference and invitation program. People gathered to meet the scholars and listen to their Dawah (Islamic Conversation).
The fair was outside the venue, on the side of the streets.
Toy Shops
People from all over the city came to join. The place was buzzing. The event usually takes place at night. Before then, from the afternoon to the evening, people come to explore different stores and food carts and have a happy hour there.
Fried food carts and Sugar candy on the right
It was near my hometown area called Rangpur, in the middle of the city. But because of the old age view and the stalls, it felt like a true village fair.
For example, the food carts that were offering different options seem like didn't change at all. They have the same menu for over 20 years. There were some additions but I still get to see some food that we usually don't get to enjoy often.
Potato Chips and Chotpoti
The dessert shop, the beetle and nut shops, the spicy ChotPoti shops; everything is very familiar to us but we don't get to enjoy them often. Because of the fast food and new street food shops; our traditional food seems unavailable.
Jilapi and betel nut shop
We tried a few fried items, then some pickles, and Jalebi too. The price was very cheap. The food brings back so many memories.
Pickles
It took us more than an hour to explore the whole fair. We didn't rush because we knew that this would be gone too soon and we would not get to experience such a fair in many upcoming years.
So, we took our time, had some food, explored the place, and bought some toys and other small things.
