Ya ha pasado un tiempo desde que me aventuré a este paso de realizar un estudio superior y a decir verdad he tenido momentos donde me he sentido frustrada, pero con el paso del tiempo me he sentido más relajada y he disfrutado de cada encuentro en la universidad.
Aquí he tenido la oportunidad de conocer a profesores maravillosos, quienes son superinteligentes y el que me tocó hoy es uno de ellos. Si la sociedad fuese más culta, viviríamos en un mundo completamente diferente.
Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to greet you. I am Yeli Marín and today I want to share with you what a day in “Master's Mode” was like.
It has been a while since I ventured into this step of pursuing a higher education and to tell you the truth I have had moments where I have felt frustrated, but as time has gone by I have felt more relaxed and I have enjoyed every encounter at the university.
Here I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful professors, who are super intelligent and the one I met today is one of them. If society were more educated, we would live in a completely different world.
Hoy estuvimos realizando un conjunto de exposiciones correspondientes con el plan de evaluación de nuestra asignatura de pragmática. Ya quedamos pocos de los que iniciamos la maestría y estoy convencida de que con los que estoy actualmente, con esos terminaré, porque yo voy hasta el final.
Por eso siempre le pido acompañamiento y sabiduría a Dios, porque en cada oportunidad siento que todo se va poniendo más difícil, pero termina siendo más llevadero.
Mis compañeros son todos profesores y yo que soy periodista, pero nuestra maestría en lingüística tiene que ver mucho con la comunicación en sus diferentes procesos y esto nos une en un solo estudio.
Today we were doing a set of presentations corresponding to the evaluation plan of our pragmatics course. There are only a few of us who started the master's degree and I am convinced that I will finish with the ones I am currently with, because I am going all the way to the end.
That is why I always ask God for guidance and wisdom, because at every opportunity I feel that everything becomes more difficult, but ends up being more bearable.
My classmates are all teachers and I am a journalist, but our master's degree in linguistics has a lot to do with communication in its different processes and this unites us in a single study.
En cuanto a mis compañeros, ya queda solo un hombre, quien da clases de lingüística en una universidad de mi ciudad. También tengo como compañeras a dos profesoras de lengua y literatura, quienes dan clases en un liceo y mis otras dos compañeras son profesoras de inglés, al igual que uno de mis profesores y todos hablan inglés, por cierto, lo que ha hecho que sea un nuevo reto personal para mí.
Y bueno, no sabía que en mis competencias académicas por continuar con mis estudios superiores, debo ser bilingüe y hablar de forma fluida el inglés, por lo que he puesto manos a la obra y me inscribía a ver clases de inglés para estar a la par con mis compañeros.
Cada vez los retos son mayores, pero para no dejar de lado mis demás responsabilidades, he pensado en paralizar un año mis estudios superiores luego de recibir mi título de magíster y enfocarme en continuar aprendiendo sobre el idioma inglés.
As for my classmates, there is only one man left, who teaches linguistics at a university in my city. I also have two female language and literature teachers as classmates, who teach in a high school, and my other two classmates are English teachers, as well as one of my professors, and they all speak English, by the way, which has made it a new personal challenge for me.
And well, I did not know that in my academic competitions to continue with my higher education, I must be bilingual and speak fluent English, so I have put my hands to work and I signed up to see English classes to be on par with my classmates.
The challenges are getting bigger and bigger, but in order not to neglect my other responsibilities, I have thought of stopping my higher education for a year after receiving my master's degree and focus on continuing to learn English.
Y digo esto porque tenía planificado el graduarme de magíster y seguidamente, comenzar un doctorado en periodismo y así concluir mi formación académica, pero me di cuenta de las exigencias que implica aprender un nuevo idioma y quiero enfocaré en ello.
Ahorita estoy estudiando de forma simultánea la maestría y viendo clases de inglés y he llegado a sentirme saturada mentalmente y agotada físicamente porque aparte de estas actividades académicas que estoy realizando, debo seguir cumpliendo con mis responsabilidades en casa y son las que más tiempo devengan.
Por lo que no me voy a saturar a fin de disfrutar cada proceso, ya dentro de poco comenzaré a trabajar en mi tesis, con miras en recibir mi preciado título de magíster y continuar formándome en el aprendizaje del inglés. Amén y que así sea.
I say this because I had planned to graduate with a master's degree and then start a doctorate in journalism and thus conclude my academic training, but I realized the demands of learning a new language and I want to focus on it.
Right now I am simultaneously studying for my master's degree and taking English classes and I have become mentally saturated and physically exhausted because apart from these academic activities that I am doing, I must continue to fulfill my responsibilities at home and they are the most time-consuming.
So I am not going to saturate myself in order to enjoy each process, and soon I will begin to work on my thesis, with a view to receive my precious master's degree and continue training in learning English. Amen and so be it.
