A couple of days ago, my dear friend @tengolotodo invited me to share with the Beer Community a beer I've had since I arrived in Colombia a week ago. And yes, I have a beer experience to share. Saturday night, my hubby and I went out for a few beers at a craft beer place in Bogota called Birreria Macha.
Since it was the first time we visited the place, we opted to order a sampler of beers.
The waitress asked us if she could choose the sample for us and we said yes, so she brought us a sampler with her favorites of the house.
So this was what we tried first,
A Helles Lager, a Pils Lager, a Hazy IPA and a West Coast IPA. From this group the ones I liked the most were the Hazy IPA and the Helles Lager. The latest despite being quite mild had a very nice and refreshing taste, perfect for a day at the beach but a little light for the Bogota weather for my taste.
The place offered more variety of craft beers than the ones included in the sampler. So we decided to order another sampler with different beers to try.
So the second sampler we ordered had a California Lager, a Brown Ale from a guest brewery called Chelarte, a Dunkel Lager and a seasonal Marzen Lager, which is part of the brand's Lab and was released on the occasion of Oktoberfest.
I liked this group of beers more than the first one even though I am not a big fan of beers with coffee or chocolate notes like the Dunkel Lager, but I liked the other three a lot.
The beer from Chelarte's house, the Brown Ale, was interesting. It had very intense citrus notes.
The California Lager was my favorite. The color a bit reddish and a mild bitterness well achieved. I found it a refreshing beer but not too light. The Marzen Lager was also quite good.
So to close the night the husband ordered a Marzen beer and I ordered a Cali.
Which we accompanied with Fish and Chips that were delicious.
This is my participation in #BeerSaturday week 380. More info about the initiave here.
We loved Birreria Macha. We liked the beers. I especially liked the California Lager. The atmosphere of the place is very nice and the music is super cool, a super selection of the 90s. And speaking of music and because ...
Today is not Saturday, but Tuesday. And Tuesday is for #threetunetuesday in Hive🎵
So without much ado I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and include here my musical recommendation for today.
At Macha apart from the good beer we enjoyed, we loved the music they played in the place, a great selection of 90's music. And after a long time I went back to listen to some of Ace of Base's songs. So my recommendation for today is the Swedish pop group founded by the Jonas brothers that was very popular in the 90s. Do you remember them?
But before we go to the songs, I remind you that #threetunetuesday is a musical initiative started by @ablaze, so for more info take a look at @ablaze's post with his recommendation for this week., the #177. And give him some support ;)
Tune 1 - Ace of Base - All That She Wants
The first song we listened to that night while trying the first sampler of beers was All That She Wants. Song released in 1992 that was part of the Ace of Base's Happy Nation album.
Tune 2 - Ace of Base - Beautiful Life
When talking about Ace of Base I can't help but include Beautiful Life, my favorite of the band back in the 90s.
Tune 3 - Ace of Base - The Sign
And to finish another hit of the band, The Sign.
Have you ever listened to Ace of Base? What is your favorite song of the band? Tell me in the comments.
Thank you very much for reading!
Enjoy the music, and enjoy life! Cheers 🍻
