Origin and a Bit of History 🏝️

Føroya Bjór is one of the oldest and largest breweries on the Faroe Islands, founded in 1888. They take pride in using pure Faroese water and natural ingredients to craft authentic beer styles. Black Sheep is one of their dark lagers, promising a rich taste and smooth aftertaste.

Appearance – First Impressions 🍂

Pouring it into a glass, I immediately noticed its beautiful amber color with a slight copper-brown hue. Under the light, it shines beautifully. The foam is creamy but not too thick, quickly settling and leaving a light lacing on the glass.

Flavor – Unlocking Its Secrets 😋

  • First sip: rich, malty, with a smooth caramel sweetness.
  • After a few seconds: hints of toasty and nutty notes start emerging, complemented by a subtle hoppy bitterness.
  • After a couple more sips: the caramel undertones fully develop, adding depth and balance.

This beer doesn’t reveal all its secrets at once – it takes some time to fully open up.

Aroma & Aftertaste 🌰

  • The aroma carries caramel malt, toasted bread crust, and light hints of burnt sugar.
  • The aftertaste is smooth, slightly sweet, with a delicate bitterness, reminding you that this is, after all, a dark lager.

Final Thoughts – Is It Worth Trying? 🤔

Black Sheep is a solid contender among dark lagers.
I really enjoyed its balance between sweetness and bitterness, as well as how the caramel notes unfold over time. It’s easy to drink yet complex enough to savor.

🔹 My rating: 8 out of 10
🔹 Who would enjoy this? Those who love dark lagers with caramel notes but without overwhelming sweetness.

If you're looking for something smooth, flavorful, and easygoing, this is definitely worth a try! 🍺
