Dogfish Head Craft Brewery has a “Light India Pale Ale” that’s 95 calories and only 4% Alcohol By Volume. So you can drink several without being overly concerned about falling down a flight of stairs. Quite a few session ales are rather bland, but Slightly Mighty has a bit of bite and bitterness with an IBU of 30. Oddly, their website doesn’t mention what hops are used. Citra? But that’s just speculation. It uses monkfruit which I guess adds some body without adding calories.
It pours a decent head, but isn’t quite as dark as this pic (in a tinted glass) suggests. More like a light orange. The taste has a hint of tropical fruit.
Okay, so not a world-class beer but easily a 7/10 and really tasty by session ale standards.
It paired just fine with beef stroganoff, a salad, and tangerines. Whatever stroganoff recipe you follow, you’re probably making a mistake if you don’t add Baby Bella (Crimini) mushrooms.
Beef stroganoff needs to simmer for at least twice as long as a generic recipe might say. Might as well catch up on some reading while you’re guarding the stove.
