Two’s company with Corona and Leffe for Beer Saturday

in #hive-1877196 days ago

Hello Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers. Did you have a braw Valentine's Day?

I had something planned for the evening, but when I got an email from one of my side hustles in the morning, I decided to head to our local pub for their Valentine's special, Dine for 2 for £25 including two drinks!

Yep it had to be done!

Well we are in the beer lovers community so let's kick of with a fine pint!

We had pretty crappy grey dreich weather all week, but as soon as I said we would go out for lunch, then out popped the sun!

I do love things landing on a weekend or Friday, as we don't work Fridays it means we can partake!

The building is beautiful and was converted from a bank I believe.

When you see the drinks I ordered then you may well know why I was there!

First up was a pint of Corona

I remember years ago when Corona was first available over here, it was only in little bottles and not on tap like it is now. I actually think it did not travel that well, and now it is brewed in the UK it does seem to be a better pint.

Second up was a pint of Leffe

Mrs T is not a beer drinker, but does enjoy a few sips of Leffe. So this is nominally her one!

Artsy drone shot!

image.png

Okay okay am taking the piss now, you aren't allowed drones inside buildings!

However it does show how little foam these two pints have.

Not that I am complaining, I don't think lager has any worthwhile foam do you?

I am not going to show the food pictures as that is a post in itself.

You were given two mains, two desserts and two drinks all for a bargain price of £25. Ours came to £44 so we saved $19!

A great day, but as I don't want to disappoint @asiaymalay I will leave the token food shot...

Can you guess what it is?

Branded glasses

The Leffe glass is a banger! Beautiful lettering and a colourful logo!

image.png

The Corona is unusual as it's tubular shape is the form of a can.

And together they make for a great pairing.

Are you a fan of branded glasses?

To me, I think the pubs and breweries can justify higher prices if they serve beer in a fancy glass! What do you think?

The Stats - Corona Extra

image.png

Corona Extra is a pale lager known for being light, crisp, and refreshing. Here are some of its key characteristics:

Flavour: It has a mild, slightly sweet flavour with hints of fruit and honey, balanced by a touch of malt. It's not overly hoppy or bitter.
Aroma: The aroma is similar to the flavor, with notes of fruit, honey, and malt.
Appearance: It has a light golden color.
ABV: 4.6%
Serving: Corona is traditionally served ice cold with a wedge of lime, which complements and enhances the flavor.

The Stats - Leffe Blond

Leffe Blonde is a Belgian Abbey Ale with a smooth and fruity flavor. Here are some of its key characteristics:

Flavour: It has a sweet, malty flavour with notes of fruit, honey, and a hint of spice. It's not overly bitter or hoppy.
Aroma: The aroma is similar to the flavor, with notes of fruit, honey, and spice.
Appearance: It has a golden blonde color with a creamy white head.
ABV: 6.6%
Serving: Leffe Blonde is best served chilled, but not ice cold, in a tulip glass. This helps to release the aroma and flavor of the beer.

Thanks to my gemini AI for answering my prompts for the characteristics of Corona Extra and Leffe Blond.

DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO IT OFTEN

Haste Ye Back!

Sort:

Corona is a fine beer and so much better in a nice large glass! The pub looks like a fine place to enjoy one.

Oh I agree with the large glass!

Good choice!

This dinner looks great. Mrs. T must have had a great time.

Hugs @tengolotodo

She said she did! Big hugs to you @sirenahippie

I could go for a Corona right now, back to my days living in the Caribbean!

So what is your drink of choice now?

Bourbon or Scotch! I don't drink beer much anymore, too many calories! I do keep some Corona Premium around and a few random mixed beers in the fridge that my friends enjoy.

Yeah calories, mind you the amount I drink now is nothing to my youth. I am often quite content with a beer.

I had a Mexican beer for Valentines day too. Mine was a Modelo Especial though.

Oh sounds cool, not heard of that one!

It's tasty. They serve it with a lime wedge like Corona.

Did you know that I drink beer with lemon for the flu? ;D It's the most effective remedy for congestion!!!! Although I think beer is perfect for everything: to remember, to forget, to refresh, to have dinner with friends, to have dinner with our love. In short: it is good for everything. So Cheers and a big hug like a Corona!

Did you know that I drink beer with lemon for the flu?

I do now. That is cool. Yes there is beer for any and every occasion. As you say Nancy it is good with everything. Sending you a big beer covered hug.

Now this is a new one...

Does it work with all types of beers?

It seems you enjoying your valatine weekend quite well, nothing like a sip of cold beer

That looks like fried eggs... Is it?

I've tried Corona before😁. Way back in Philippines😌. What's that food? Looks like macaroni, ham and peas? 😛
