Good day, everyone. I hope all is doing well. Since Chinese New Year is approaching, we decided to go to the market one last time before the CNY to avoid the rush. Aside from being so crowded, everyone is rushing to buy their things. This market would close the day before CNY and open again after a week. All commodity prices have increased. We always go here because it's a popular market and near my place. My boss always drives me here and waits for me until I finish.
When I entered the market, I was greeted with this giant willow flower with a lot of decorations hanging on it.
Everywhere are all Chinese New Year things displayed. Different flowers, especially the orchids, that are always in demand in this celebration, together with the citrus trees or fruits. Everywhere is crowded, especially the flower shop area.
These beautiful flowers also caught my eye. They are so pretty in full bloom. But when I check on the price. I was like, no, thank you. I will admire them from a distance. The cost of living in Singapore is already expensive, but with the Chinese New Year, prices have risen to the highest and doubled the price more than usual.
After admiring those beautiful flowers and Chinese decorations, I buy the things I need to stock up for the coming new year. I need to purchase fish that would last for two weeks. Here, my boss consumes the fillet and boneless fish. They don't know how to eat a boned fish. One time, she caught me eating a milkfish and was scared of me eating the bones. She asked why I was eating that fish. She also told me that if I ate the bones, I wouldn't come to her and tell her that she needed to bring me to the hospital. I almost choked on what she said while hiding my smile.
I also bought some pork, chicken fillet, and whole chicken for soup. We would make chicken soup for CNY. I remember some prawns to keep. We always keep meat and other things in the freezer and take it out if we want to cook and let it thaw.
Aside from that, there are also a few stalls that sell fresh vegetables and fruits. I only bought a few veggies because my boss always prefers organic one. I also bought some fruits here, like papaya and banana—the rest they bought from supermarket where they can choose the organic.
After finishing buying all the things that I needed, I went up to the food court to buy something to eat. There's a lot of choices here. Different food stalls offering different menus. Name it, and they have it. The only thing that needs to be added here is the Filipino food. I bought some pancakes with a peanut butter filling and soya bean milk.
This market has everything you need. It's popular among other markets, which may be why their products are more expensive compared to other markets.
That's all for today, guys. Happy weekend♥️
