A Week's Worth Of Packed Lunches
This is one of my biggest struggle for being a stay at home. What to cook for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And especially what packed lunch will I make for my boyfriend.
They have a cafeteria in their office but, oh but we are on a tight budget and so, I always make sure to pack him lunch. (excluding the days I'm pissed off him. Lol)
I usually get by a week without a hitch since I meal prep our food for the entire week on Sundays. But sometimes, it's still nerve wracking since I'm not a morning person. I usually wake up with half of my brain still sleeping. Kidding aside here's a week's worth of my boyfriend's packed lunches:
Day 1: The viand is an omelette from left over chopseuy (stir fry vegetables from two nights before ahaha. It was on the freezer!) and minced pork. Then I include some pickled papaya and fried plantain as snack.
Guys eat lots. So my boyfriend's rice portion is usually big. Sometimes he eat his packed lunch twice. At 10 AM and 3PM, depending on his mood.
Day 2: The viand is 3 pieces fried chicken (I swear they are fried chicken and they taste good. Don't judge them by their looks. Ahah) and sauteed string beans with minced pork. I also made him two sandwiches.
Asian lunches always include rice. Not only lunches; we eat rice three times a day! Sometimes even more?
Day 3: The viand is pork bistek ( filipino version of pork steak) and his snack is maruya (banana with egg and flour batter)
Do you know what I love watching in youtube or tiktok or facebook? It's about food. I love those Bento boxes influencers make for their hubby's lunches. But yeah they are too much effort for me. So I just admire them. You'll never know, one day I'll be motivated enough to make a three layer bento box.
Day 4: The viand is an omelette (from a vegetable I don't really recall...it maybe cabbage or potato but I'm not sure) and leftover Chicken Liver Afriatada from the night before. And his snack is Ginataang Bilo-bilo (it's mixed root crops with plantain boiled in coconut milk and sugar. it's green because of the pandan flavoring)
My boyfriend' packed lunch is usually leftovers from the night before or something that I have made into a different dish. Well, if you have a tight budget you'll know this.
Day 5: The viand fried chicken and stir fry cabbage. There's no snack because he has money. You know sometimes he requests for money coz he gets tired of my cooking. (Just kidding we run out of snacks.)
I cook for two in the morning, what's left from my boyfriend's packed lunch is my lunch too. So we basically eat the same.
Day 6: The viand is tortang talong (eggplant omelette with the stem!) and some pickled papaya. I made three small jars of those pickled papaya (atsara) and we still have one jar left in the fridge.
Do I get tired of waking up early just to cook food? Oh yeah of course! So sometimes he gets a free pass and just buy his lunch on the cafeteria. But my loving boyfriend prefers my food (pero feeling ko binobola nya lang ako. Ahahahhah)
Do you also pack lunches for your boyfriends? Husbands? Kids? Share me some ideas so I can make it too.
Thank you for reading! Until next time peace out!❤️
