Greetings, fellow hivers! How's everyone doing on this fantastic Friday?
I'm excited to share some snapshots and a brief story about our day, which holds special significance for my kids. Today marks the birthday of my second son, and interestingly, November happens to be the birth month for both my sons. Given that their birthdays are just five days apart, we've established a tradition of celebrating them together, either on November 10 or November 15. This joint celebration is a practical choice, allowing us to manage expenses without compromising on the joy of commemorating their special days.
(My second born is just so excited to open the box.)
While we may not have the means for extravagant birthday treats, we make the most of what we can afford, thanks to my husband's diligently saved piggy bank. Four months ago, we had to dip into the piggy bank to cover essential needs when our budget was stretched thin. Despite the setback, my husband resumed saving, and in these four months, he managed to set aside 4000 PHP (71.59 USD). With this, we purchased a new pair of shoes for my eldest, whose old ones had seen better days. The remaining funds were allocated for a simple birthday celebration.
(A pair of shoes for my eldest that cost only 600 PHP or 10 USD.)
Allow me to share what the piggy bank contributions treated my sons to – a cake, an ever-present symbol of celebration, and their favorite spaghetti. It may seem modest, but what matters most is the joy they find in singing the birthday song for each other and blowing out the candles. I recognize that it's a simple gesture, but I'm overjoyed that my boys appreciate our modest efforts to make their day special.
In the grand scheme of life, happiness transcends material possessions and luxury. It's about finding joy in the little things and expressing gratitude for every blessing, whether big or small.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Have a great weekend fellas!
