A Drive to Remember: Learning the Importance of Car Maintenance

in #hive-188409last year

Every so often, life flings open the door to learning in the most unforeseen situations. A handful of days ago, I became the unsuspecting student in an impromptu masterclass on vehicular vigilance and the art of mindful maintenance, right in the driver's seat of a borrowed Mitsubishi Attrage.

Like any other regular day, I was steering the wheels of this fine machine, when out of the blue, the car jolted, gasped, and fell into a standstill. The glaring red symbol on the dashboard lit up like a warning flare, and the car began belting out a symphony of uncommon sounds - definite indicators of mechanical mayhem. Stress and anxiety swiftly washed over me.

Recognizing the severity of the scene, I carefully guided the vehicle to the closest safe spot and sent out an SOS to my friend. Upon his arrival and inspection, he diagnosed the automobile with two distinct ailments - a completely drained reservoir of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and an overheating engine. Our trusty mechanic affirmed that these were separate diagnoses, not a two-for-one deal.

With the problems clearly overstepping our expertise, we called in the cavalry - professionals at a trusted repair shop. As the car was hoisted onto the tow truck, I found myself plunging into deep contemplation about the day's unraveling events.

This mechanical misadventure adjusted my compass on driving, particularly when the vehicle is a borrowed treasure. I had been living with the blissful assumption that a friend's car came with a guarantee of good maintenance, and any journey within it would be mechanical trouble-free. However, this incident shattered that belief and spotlighted the urgency of taking ownership of our safety and the health of the vehicle, regardless of its actual owner.

Drawing from this memorable drive, I have a basketful of advice for fellow travelers who might find themselves navigating a similar course. Make it a habit to scrutinize the vehicle's overall condition and fluid levels, even if the car's ownership lies with someone else. Engage with the owner's manual, become friends with the dashboard warning lights, and never dismiss unusual sounds or alterations in the vehicle's behavior. Communication is key, so always keep an open dialogue with the owner or rental service.

In essence, being at the wheel comes with a hefty parcel of responsibility. Regardless of the vehicle's ownership, regular maintenance is an indispensable part of ensuring safety on the open road and evading nerve-wracking hiccups like my recent one. So, strap up, drive with care, and remember, every engine deserves a regular health check-up!

That’s a tough one but it’s important to be aware of. Whenever you park the car, always give a look underneath the spot you parked to see if there is any fluid that leaked down. It’s often a slow leak before it’s all gone so you can catch those things early.

A tough lesson but an important one for sure!

Yes, it is a tough lesson. A charge to experience for my next ride

Like how someone always say, it is one thing to be able to buy a car, it is another thing to have expenses to maintain the car

Having a car seems like we need a budget for least expected events, if we can I think no car is better than having a car in terms of budget

The way we all know that a person gets it once in life and will not get it again and the way when the red light is on inside the car, there is problem. So it should be checked immediately and the problem that is happening inside should be eliminated because if not done in this way, the life of both the people who are walking outside and the person who is inside the vehicle will be in great danger.

aww hope your car's fixed now!

Yes, it is good now :)

Thank you for concern

Beautiful car. Hope you have a great experience with this.

Awts! Keep safe out there! Especially since it's super hot, it's hard if they car breaks down in the middle of the road.

Oo nga eh, natuto na ako na need natin magcheck ng maintenance everytime whenever I will use a borrowed car or rent a car
