Time flies really fast and on the 13th of September I'm already two months here. I can't still believe that I'm here in this community now making this article where other authors out there who just onboarded can learn from. Even if I'm still new on this platform I'm sure I can share some tips on how to be a responsible hiver.
Anybody can write but not everyone can be a blogger. Here's why, being a bloger is wherein you continously formulate ideas about something from your mind. Also by being a writer on a blogging platform such as this you need to be creative as possible. By doing so you can catch the attention of your audience. It will also become your trade mark in writing.
Aside from being creative, when you hopped in to a platform like this you should have a particular topics to write for example your interest and your passions. You can focus on them.
If you want to broaden the topics you write, you can participate in contests hosted by some of the veterans here or in a community. There's a lot of communities in hive where you can post certain topics but you have to keep in mind their rules before posting.
Here are the three things I want to point out while you stay on hive.
First is Rules.
Every platforms that is existed out there have their own rules or the things we should follow or the things we should do and don't. If you want to last long in a community such as Hive then you must follow and execute the rules here. They are not that hard to understand so I bet even a elementary student can do it.
By complying to the rules here you are building your account and name. Others will also start to like and support you because you're not harming and endangering the platform.
As I said communities here have their own rules and you can check them on their page by visiting the About section.
Also when someone here corrected you about the rules you broke, you should not feel bad about it or hold a grudge to that someone. Comply to it and keep in mind not to repeat it next time.
Second is Respect.
You can't go too far if this one is not present in your being believe me. No matter how great your works are if you don't have the capability to respect your fellow authors then you're nothing.
In your blogs be polite as possible in replying to their comments. People don't want to have a conversation to a rude person in the first place. So you better check your language before you type your response. If you're a Filipino then you should understand what I'm saying here because our parents taught us that when we were still kids.
People who attain high reputation in the society tend to look down on newbies who's just starting their journey. They are disrespecting them in front of people and it's just so wrong no matter how you look at it.
You also need to respect yourself. You can't do what I said above if you're not doing it on your own.
Third is to Read.
If you're a writer on a blogging platform you should expect engagement to the works of your fellow authors. You can't just publish it and sit there waiting for someone to reward it.
You should build your connections by reading the works of others. Talk about what's written in their blogs. Reading may take time but the result later on will be permanent so find time to do it. Also the blogs here are not that long so you can do it.
By executing this one will also give you positive results in the way of constructing your blogs. By reading a lot of different blogs you can pick up one or two techniques they used to write that great blog. So it's a win win situation. You're building your connections and at the same time learning.
Those are the three things I want you to keep in mind if you're new here. Also the most important is to be yourself here. There's no need to fake everything you do. Be the real you so the results will be real also. Another one is be teacheable because no matter how smart you are there are still many things that you didn't know and other people can teach it to you.
Be an empty cup always.
Thanks for reading.
