Yo Hivers! It's Mooon.
I have another blog that I want to share with you and it's all about the PYAP anniversary that I and my fellow youth attended last July.
PYAP (Pagasa Youth of the Philippines) is a DSWD-managed organization for out-of-school youths (OSYs) aged 15 to 24 years old that focuses on the economic, personality, cultural, and social development of the young. The organization is federated at the municipal level, where local government units (LGUs) provide OSYs with job and skill training, personality development activities, and leadership seminars. Local governments also collaborate with other groups and academic institutions to provide these services to youngsters.
Last July 22, 2023, they celebrate the 49th Founding anniversary held in Ynares Center that was a pretty big event as all youths in Antipolo were invited and welcome.
PYAP officers together with CSWD personnel organized a competition in which all Barangays must participate.
There's a 6 active youth org in our Barangay under different sitios and to represent our Barangay we decided to fabricate and work with other youth org besides, two head is better than one.
Contest:
Banner Making
Hawat Kabataan (Dance Contest)
Bugso Spoken Poetry
Poster Making contest
Ambassador and Ambassadress (Pageant)
Theme:
" Pagpapahalaga ng Bawat Kabataan sa Kalusugan Pang-Kaisipan tungo sa Matiwasay na Kinabukasan " or simply about taking care the mental health as a youth.
The challenging part is we need to use recyclable materials for everything and it includes outfits for the pageant.
We lack time to prepare because we receive the invitation late we just accept the last call at least we can participate and be the representative of the Barangay. Unfortunately, we don't have an entry for 2 competitions in which the poster-making and hataw Kabataan but we are confident that we can still win and get some prizes.
After Brainstorming with the other 5 Youth Orgs, the task assignment flowed smoothly because we have our own designated areas to perform plus the 2 youth representatives to compete came from our org so we need to give our full support for that event.
I volunteered in doing recycled outfits and banner making cause I know that I can perform well in art and crafts.
AT THE EVENT
There's a registration booth upon entry.
The event started with a prayer and singing of the national anthem after that, the stage burned when this little kid sing a song she was a special guest from another Barangay her voice is powerful enough to make us stand and join her while singing. She's more of a little Princess Rockin' the Dead vibe lol! Her confidence is definitely at a high level, as a professional singer at a young age.
POSTER MAKING
There's no time limit for poster making also they have their own space to do their artwork any mediums are allowed as long as they follow the theme.
BANNER PRESENTATION
The Banner must be presented per Barangay and we need to explain what makes our banner important and the materials we used.
This is our Banner, we made it simple and clear.
Made of wood, disposable bottles and spoons, sack, and other recyclable materials.
BUGSO (SPOKEN POETRY)
The girl in the red dress won in this category she received a trophy and a cash prize well, I can't deny it she nailed it! her piece is hella solid. One of a kind she dominates all participants, she deserves it!
Meet our Bugso competitor, Leonardo, he won as first runner-up! he did a great job his piece is extraordinary and I feel his piece he just cried while spitting his poem so after his performance we gave him a group hug. We're so proud of this little guy! We never expect the result.
HATAW KABATAAN (Dance Contest)
We don't have an entry for the dance competition cause we have no choreographer plus we only have a short period so we spent on something else.
I'm so amazed at everyone's performance, the choreography, and rhythm are perfect watching them gives you goosebumps.
AMBASSADOR & AMBASSADRESS
This is the most awaited category all of us are waiting for, the battle of beauty and intelligence because of the excitement, I forgot to take all of them a picture, however, I have some shots while they are walking wearing their National outfits.
I admire this woman, she's so charming and captivating among these princesses, this one stands out from the rest but that's my own opinion still, only the Judges have the right to decide. I just want to defend her because I had an affinity for her. Lol!
(This must be a Love at first sight Haha I'm just kidding!)
Here's our representative for our Barangay. Jasphir and Chinggay
Jasphir is my close buddy and he is no experience in this kind of contest we just convinced him to participate cause he is the only one that fits to be our Ambassador on the other side, Chinggay is a professional model and an active pageant competitor. I love their Chemistry, Ching taught Jasphir everything she knows about the pageant and I'm glad that he absorbed it and they achieve a great result.
Watching them slaying together gives me chill and astonishment.
I'm so proud also that the outfits that they're representing are made by us we sacrifice a lot of time and effort for that.
Well, all of the sacrifices and sleepless nights paid off as they win a title actually, we lose hope when we see other contestants. However, the confidence and appeal that they have are on a different level enough to make the Judges amazed.
Jasphir won Best Professional Attire not bad for a first-timer, while Ching won 1st Runner-Up!
This is the first time that our Barangay participate in this once-in-a-year event and we are so happy that all of our representatives won.
THE PREPARATION
I would like to share some photos of how we prepared the props and everything that we present, big respect for the art and crafts team.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS
This kind of event must be regularized to empower youngsters, also to encourage out-of-school youth and other disadvantaged youth to become self-sufficient, economically productive, and socially responsible individuals become capable of contributing to the advancement of their families and community.
PYAP must serve as a strategy that provides a venue for discussing youth issues and concerns linked to their projects and developing solutions/recommendations addressed to both the youth and other systems involved in program development and implementation.
All in all, I enjoy the whole event and I appreciate all participants.
everyone is a winner as we embrace unity as a youth, together we can achieve more. **Mabuhay ang Kabataan! **
Again, this is Mooon. saying my final word.
Peace out! 🤙
